Your post jogged my memory to this can of Starrett lubricant I had in the basement.
Yeah, I use some fairly thick grease as well, but not really thick enough because the wires will drop if I take too long. I'll try thicker grease.Stel, I have a can of axel grease near my metrology stuff for gluing things like wires and gauge blocks to a thread. Works wonders.
I have heard of sticking the wires into foam rubber or styrofoam to keep them in place and the swearing down.
I just received this gizmo. Starrett No. 995 Planer Gauge.
I'll check tomorrow. But I think 2 brass hinges.NICE OAK BOX! REEKS OF QUALITY.
Simple hinge?
Don't think I'm not listening Sus .I'm envious of all the calipers.
I didn't know they made socket wrenches!! Well, why not.Great !Stel , I found an old set of Starrett sockets on their antique website . I didn't know they were Starretts but they obviously are . I have one dowstairs , the rest are still down the other place .
The one on the left is a #392 Centre Gauge attachment. I tried a Starrett search but it looks like this has been discontinued.
I think it acts as a grip, but also because it has a v-groove, it keeps the gauge level when it's placed against the chucked part when aligning your thread cutting tool bit.I have the thread gauge part of that set but not the bar slider. What is the slider part for?
And another forgotten Starrett tool found...
