Tips/Techniques Workshop Organization- things that have made a difference for you

Tips/Techniques
Aside from clearing the front steps, it has to be over a foot before I consider the shovel or the plow. The shovel doesn't see much use. I've discovered that, if you just leave it alone, the snow will eventually melt. People are just so impatient. The path from the house to the shop just gets packed, and sanded if necessary.
You’re lucky if you can wait for it to melt.
In Ontario, we are looking at -20deg C on Tuesday nite, we are not into Spring yet !!

Might be a good time to head South of the 26th parallel to escape the shovel duties.

You know, I really enjoyed the project I managed for Toni Dairy in Guayquil, Ecuador: the lowest recorded temperature was 61F, and even those who lived there thought that 90F was hot.

I'll tell you the same thing I told Stefan when he took his Sabbatical: Say "Hi" to the Hobbits!

If you are going to be in Dunedin anyway and even remotely interested in aviation, visiting the Croydon Aviation Heritage Centre is a "must do"!

If you go, say "Hi" to BFH and AKY from me ... fond lifelong memories of flights in both. I even built a model of AKY many years ago ...

Mandeville might get added to our route, looks interesting.
(I was actively flying Cessna 140 & 172’s years ago)
Thanks for the tip !!

I find using the inside space of my cupboard door useful storage. Maybe because my shelves are full
Hoarder problem?
I use my staple gun to hang and display most of the stuff.
This one is motorcycle supplies

That is making good ‘re-use’ of those clear bags that online suppliers ship their products in !!
Visibility beats hiding them in the bottom of a draw somewhere.

I tried to re-use bags, especially if they are decent quality.
Some of those bags are recycled milk bags. I learned this from my mother. They are quite heavy duty.

Here is another cupboard door storage setup for my power cord assortment.

Oh dear god....I couldn't stand to use almost any of that stuff. Also, get some velcro ties rather than twisting all the cables into weird shapes.

My shop is bulging at the seams with recycled parts to repair all sort of appliances, for the repair cafe, neighbors, friends and family.
The cupboard door storage was a solution to my overwhelming assortment of supply needed. Most of the repairs are for the low income bracket and they can't afford the parts or to have it repaired. Even those twisted power cord will get me a big smile if it fixes their appliance. I can now store some extra supplies, they are now more visible, accessible when needed, compare to the ones I have in boxes on the shelves, which I have to dump out and sort through to find what I need. It is not the prettiest storage set-up, but it works very well for my limited space situation.

Bolt Depot packages all of their hardware in very nice heavy ziplock bags, each labeled clearly with the contents (including any custom info you ask them to include - very important when you build a cart weeks/months before purchasing and want to know why you bought something). These labels (usually) are easily removed so you can re-use the bags.

I probably have accumulated hundreds of them!
