Mill arrived

I bought an ER32 - R8 collet set years ago on Ebay, the quality is probably not that good but they seem to do the job for me, 15 collet set with R8 chuck and wrench for around $110 USD.
I also bought a square and hex collet block to go with the ER32 collets, handy to fit round stock in a mill vice and cut four or six sides to make nuts, bolt heads etc. about $50 USD for a pair of blocks

Cheers

Jim

Ummmm. Ya, there is Avery strong possibility of that.....

Ya, my flashback predates colour and rainbows.
No wonder old Henry said that "you can paint it any color you like, as long as it's black" .... Back in your day white would have been the only other option..... Thankfully the psychedelic sixties came along and gave us color...... 🙄

Strange why the eBay link posted that message, not intending to cause flashbacks!
I remember when the TV Stations signed off for the night, somehow the ‘breaking news’ could wait til the next day.

Hell My job as a kid was to go to the tv and turn the dial to tune the antenna, even had a chicken that sat on the tv at times, mashed taters, gravy and roast chicken, yah she didn't make it back yo the coop.

On a evolutionary note, mills and lathes being the topic;
as a young fella my adopted Grandfather was a tool and die maker, I used to visit with my father and eat chocolate chip cookies Gran made and listened silently to Dad and Gramps talk about life and the war. Grandad had a lathe in his little shop and I admired it like a shiny new bicycle and the wonders he spoke of that it could do. Now I find myself as an older fella learning what Gramps had done all his life, one can imagine the guidance a man like that could pass on. It was all lost, sold or stolen after his death, skills never passed on, so he I sit, learning, typing and trying to leave a future for my children, tools and an interest they can hopefully cary the journey on, the journey of learning.

Ummmm. Ya, there is a very strong possibility of that.....

I had a black and white television in my childhood but it was colour was getting pretty popular by then for most folks. My kids think it's funny that television channels signed off for the night.

My kids didn't even know there was such a thing black and white till visiting a neighbor. She proudly told them it was three way, very special, b&w, 120v, 12v and propane. They were very impressed. 🙄

Back in the dark ages of 2 tv channels, both b&w, a guy was selling antenna towers, some had a rotator up top so you could tune in to a different city. An old neighbor didn't want to spend the extra money for a rotator so he kept a long steel bar by the tower, to tune in to a different city he rotated the whole tower. Big tough old guy, but very frugal. 🙄

My Mother was born in 44'...in an area of BC that could easily be described as "remote"...she told me once that as a little girl...her family had made the all day long trek to the nearest town...which had running water, flush toilets, electricity and of course TV...She was mesmerized by the thing...then a few years later colour came about...she said the first time she saw a colour TV, and the rainbow bar popped up on screen...she sat there for at least an hour staring at the colours...
Now I can't get my grandkids off of the eff'n tablets my daughter uses as distraction to engage in Lego's, blocks, cars or much else...
makes me sad...

I'm no parent - but I don't like seeing 4-6 year old kids throwing a tantrum and mom giving them a cell phone or tablet to distract them. Personal opinion

I full well remember the TV antennas. Made for a perfect ladder to get on the roofs.

Crazy how things evolve. Friend of mine had a 4'x4'x3' chunk of concrete formed for a satellite dish base. Now it's just a relic of years gone by
