If it works, at least your equipment is running. My lathe has sat for nearly a year while I looked for a transformer.

    Plenty O Tools

The one I bought was the only one that was still hooked up to the phase converter, so I figured that it probably still worked. It was definitely quite new compared to the other transformers. Oh and it was the only one with a legible label on it! Turns out it steps up from 240 to 480 V and is 9...

    Plenty O Tools

I picked up a transformer for my EMCO lathe so I can finally get it running. Also took a flier on some micrometer. Really hard to tell what all was in the lot, but the price was right. Will know in a few days if it was worth it. I am lucky I have some friends in Gravelbourg that are picking my...

Import 16x60ish lathe, $3000, Maple Ridge BC

The ”excellent for roughing but not so good for tight tolerances” statement is a bit of a red flag. But it is running so you could take a few cuts to check it out. It might just need some adjustment. Or maybe some expensive new bearings. Hard to say.

    Kearney&Trecker 3CE, Weyburn Sask: $600

Isn’t the 3CE made in England by CVA? That would make replacement parts even harder to come by. I wouldn’t touch that thing with a 10 ton crane!

    Colchester Triumph 2000 Saskatoon

always fun to see who picks up what I missed. I noticed the key in the chuck and noted that there is no mention of any accessories but missed the gap. You would think that if you want to sell something for $7k you would have more than two pictures and a trite statement that it works fine.
