Tool Vevor Drill Bit Sharpener

Tool
I've kind of lost the scent here of Vevor models & what you guys are doing for mods/accessories. Can someone summarize? Is 13B the one shown as 366CAD? (unless I missed it I don't see the A&B distinction). Are you buying through vevor.ca?

So I have new dimensions for the 13A grinding wheel

The only functional differences are that the flat section of the wheel is only 1mm wider, whereas the 13B wheel has about a 1.8mm flat section.

For grinding drills alone I dont think there will be a huge advantage for 13B owners to rush out and buy 13A wheels.

BUT if like me you plan to experiment and convert to end mill sharpening then the 13A wheels are pretty much mandatory for the gash grinding.

Okay so here is the skinny.

We are buying cheap vevor labeled product and modding to become both the MR-13D duo variant for a fraction of the price.

There are two possible ways to go about the mod, starting with either a 13A or 13B.

To complicate matters further, there is also the 20G mod, to extend the drill bit sharpening range to 20mm wide. This too should be possible using either the 13A or 13B with some modifications. The 20G wheel is also 78mm diameter, but deeper at 15mm thick. The lat section on it is 1.5mm.

In hind sight I'd have bought the cheaper 13A with the thinner flat section on the wheel to mod rather than the B. I'd have just purchased the extra diamond wheel and a 20G CBN wheel on a bulk purchase deal if possible.

Also, the MR-13D is the duo machine, and it uses the 13A wheels.

The X3 end mill grinder uses a 78mm x 10mm wheel but with no flat section and a 45 degree angle rather than a 60. So that mod will require a different wheel.

Grinding Wheels and disparities between what aliexpress vendors publish and reality.

The 13A/D and 13B wheel published data usually bare minimum given, diagrams are hard to find.

The one 13A/D diagram I found is wrong, and listed 80mm diameter when it is 78mm. Everything else looks accurate

The 13B wheel diagram doesn't show the flat, which I previously said appeared to be 1.8mm but I now believe is 1.5mm. No I wasn't going to rub my calipers onto the super abrasive faces to get a better measurement

Th 20G on the otherhand does show a flat of 1.5mm which is what leads me to conclude the 13B flat is that same size.

and to repeat the X3 wheel is like this

Let's see what @TorontoBuilder comes up with and those of us with 3DPs will pitch in.
If someone with a fast 3d printer that can print a more technical plastic wants to print the prototypes that would be cool. Even better if they have a grinder to test on.

@thestelster I was going to make an undermount cabinet with drawer on one side and vacuum attachment on the other... could be 3D printed, could be sheet metal, or could be wood.

@PeterT - the $366 is the B model. I bought mine from Vevor.ca, it was less expensive than Amazon and was delivered in two days.

@DavidR8 - I'll make my machine available to you if are prototyping,,,, at least until you succumb to the pressure, ;)

So how about this, @DavidR8 prints the 3D parts to test the conversion design, and @YotaBota you swap them out onto your machine to test the fitment?

The link to the parts upload is in the other thread

I'm losing track where I posted the wheel and motor order information...

I think it was this thread.

So update, the price of the wheels with shipping is $35.50 USD ($51 CAD) each. I'd hoped they'd give us a better deal on per wheel cost, but the shipping cost increase for all the wheels is only $5USD, so this is still a good deal indeed and 8 bucks cheaper per wheel than the lowest price I've ever seen these grinding wheels. The company with the lowest price per wheel wanted over 90 bucks for shipping.

The motors with shipping are $40 USD (57.35 CAD)

I dont know if we will get dinged for hst or not.
