I have both types from Princess Auto the self releasing is great the other one works better with a strip of metal stuck to it to stick the scarf onto.I have a magnetic broom like that and I always wear gloves to clean it off. Experience is a heck of a teacher.
The touch DRO has been great so far. So much faster to pick up an edge and position the tool than doing it the way I was before without a DRO.

Check your VFD parameters.
