Nice. I have a little indicator like that too. Neat little things.
The other day I cleaned up the Starrett #454 E&M height gauge, and made a bent leg holder to hold DTI's and DI's in line with the beam. I modified a Starrett snug that I had so that it would fit the holder. So now I can use an indicator with either a 3/8" shaft, or the dovetail.
I'm still waiting for the scrbier carrier to hold my holder onto the height gauge arm.

I found a bunch of height gauge pieces on Ebay, bid on and won. They just came in. I just have to clean them up a bit. Only 2 of the scribers are a direct fit, the Starrett and the Brown & Sharpe. And two of the scriber clamps are Starrett, but one is missing the little flat spring.
With the z-scriber, I have to subtract 2.000" from the reading to get the actual height below the scriber. This way you can measure low heights. By using a straight scriber, I can read it directly for heights taller than about 1.4".
And I can use the DTI for height comparison.
Oh, and a squareness comparator too!

I have an older Mitutoyo just like it with a Vernier 10ths scale on the barrel. It's a beautiful micrometer. I can easily understand why you have wanted one.
I use mine mostly with the gauge pin for tubing thickness. In my case, mostly to measure brass case neck thickness at various depths.

My Metrology tools span the waterfront. Some top notch, a lot in between, some cheap stuff that actually works, and some junk I should never have bought.
Just received a 12" Vincen digital caliper with inches, metric, and fractions. My 6" Vincen works well and I wanted a 12" caliper but wasn't willing to pay for a Mitutoyo. So I opted for another Vincen. Time will tell.
I have a Mitutoyo interchangeable anvil 0-1" thread mic, but I need a couple more of the anvils. But they cost $85.00 per thread pair!! And of course, because its 0-1", it's too small to measure any barrel threads.
I've heard that their products have gone down hill for a number years. But their older stuff has always been top notch. That's why I keep looking for a good deal.

I think you already know that I bought the Accusize thread mics in 0-1, 1-2, & 2-3 so they work on barrel tenons too. I'm quite happy with them but I seem to recall that you were not too thrilled for some reason......
Almost anything has to be better than thread wires......
I bought a couple of used Starrett #568 v-blocks today. Unfortunately, no clamps. They're a matched pair. So I quickly cleaned them up a bit and went about measuring them. Less than 1/2 a tenth of a thou' square and parallel on the one, and 1 tenth on the other!! But the v-surfaces have a couple of depressions on them which looks like a shaft was rotating in the V. So I might have to investigate how to properly grind the v's.

Yeah, BarZ. He has a couple of re-grind videos showing two different methods. I have a sine vise so I think it will work, but I'll have to check its accuracy first.
No way! Those Starrett Tap Wrenches are GORGEOUS. Wish I never ever bought anything else. They are like 10x the, quality and functionality of their closest competitor. I have all of them now except their very biggest 91E - their phantom model. Some say it used to exist, some say it never did. I can do without that one till I find a deal I can't refuse. LOL!
Hey, do me a favour at your convenience. Grab your 91B tap handle and let me know if it will hold a chamber reamer by it's square section, and measure the thickness of the body please.
