Yeah, it's convenient, but at $5/can it's spendy. There's also those sureshot pressurized sprayers too. Always wanted to try one, but again....I'm cheap....

Holy crap, they used to be like $45-50 and you could get them on sale for around $35. Now up near $100. I thought $50 was bad.....Always thought an old 1lb propane bottle would work great for one (just my recycling mind), but playing around with homemade pressure vessels isn't high on my list of fun shop activities.....

Just noticed....https://www.princessauto.com/en/product/PA0008311334

I wonder if these work as well as the brand name ones do. Has anyone tried them?
I just got one of these at auction for $5 :)
Have two others, one for wd40, one for solvent/varsol. I had tried straight up rust chek in one but it was too viscous. Not sure how viscous fluid film is but perhaps thinning it with varsol would work. They seem to work great as long as the fluid is thin enough.
In fact I think Ill try thinning rust chek with varsol for this latest one, it would be handy...

My engine oil one doesn't spray but it will squirt. I mainly use it on drive chains on farm equipment so a squirt is just fine anyway. Hydraulic fluid and diesel oil work just fine.
Ya i was going to ask you to clarify that, so like aw32 hydraulic oil aerosolizes? That rust chek straight up would just squirt, kinda.

I might just buy one for kersene since that also works for milling aluminum and I think is cheaper than WD40.

Still have an unused gallon of LPS-1. Kind of like WD40 but leaves dry residue so not good for milling aluminum.

@Susquatch , you've seen my shop as have others, its still in pretty decent shape, grew on me pretty well to keep it clean and organized! nice being able to get 2 vehicles or big projects indoors with plenty of room to move! like monday I had to get my backhoe inside to rebuild the hoe spool valve because it was leaking bad even with tractor not running!, changed a rear axle seal last wk as it was trashed, what a job that was! hey Mr, if you're ever in the market for hard to get diesel parts, that Amish fella north of town has some of the craziest connections I've ever seen! you name it, he can likely get it, from a 5.5hp Lombardini to a 400hp Mitsubishi! loves his Cummins engines

WD40 is better than brake clean and relatively speaking it's fairly cheap. I definitely never use it for lubrication either, but rust prevention it's better than nothing and definitely better than something that strips everything off.

I NEVER said to use brake clean as a rust preventer. NEVER! I'd think that would actually be worse than spraying it down with salt water!

Lots of way better products out there. Fluid film is awesome but too sticky for indoor use. WD40 Corrosion Specialist is even better than fluid film but too expensive for routine use. Remington gun oil is great stuff but doesn't work well outdoors.

Here is a post worth reading.

Did you actually post this today? I thought this response was from a while ago but I got a notification for it?

No doubt it’s much easier, but is it more fun?

This is the outside wall which has the carport on the other side. What's interesting is the footing on which the wall is built is actually level. The floor slopes downward towards the centre of the lower level. The entry into the carport is actually a step up onto the pad. The carport is now the shop with all my metal tools. The other side of this wall is still stucco. One day I really should remove that.

In this photo the distance to the top of the footing from the shelf is about 2". At the other end it's about 1/2" above the shelf.

Back in the last Century, I worked for a Hardwood Floors Co. that had a "Commercial" License, and we did a LOT of Wineries.

I went to one, where my job was to shoot down "stickers" to bring the floor to a particular hight, as they were going to HEAT the room via Air Circulation under said finished Floor.

I had the Standard Floor Layers "Inspection TOOL" a very ridgid 10 foot long "I Beam". This provide a *TRUE* flatness of 1/8 inch (maximum deflection) Along that 120 inch beam.

I started on the theory, that the Concrete subfloor had a REASONABLE LEVEL-NESS to it, I mean the Winery machinery floor, was in the next room • • • • •

Well, within Moving the TEST BAR, TWICE, there was a HORRID discrepancy: over an INCH+ in 10 feet!

WHAT? I had done this process a DOZENTY* times before . . . definately OUT OF SPEC!

After Arbitarily examinining a few more check points, I went straight to the Main CONTRACTOR, and showed him my results • • • • • • • •

HIS REPLY, was Priceless, it seems they set up the transit, in that DOORWAY, to bring concrete level from the crushing room area to the room I was to work in, AND SOMEONE knocked a leg out of place ! ! !
:-(

ONE "would assume" that they did a Re-Check on ~The HORIZON, et. al.~ But you folks Up NORTH know that making Assumptions • • • • • • • Creates a DONKEY in the room :-}

I called my Boss spoke of the INACCURACY, and the needed extra time to *LEVEL THE WORLD*, and he said "NOTED" ! ! !

The Total Variance in "their level" AND the WORLD that I worked, in was over Two INCHES, Not at all worthy of a Company with a Commercial Contractor's License. More in line with the Three Stooges, or even the RED GREEN Show (Canada's BEST HUMOR exported to Down South),

• • • I can change, if I try • • •

Just to ANNOY those other Main & S0ub Contractors, EVERY TIME that I fired my 22 powered Nail Gun, to attatch the stickers, I YELLED, "FIRE IN THE HOLE", a quasi legal requirement in the State of Califusion, just South of Oregon (B.A.G.)

*Oh, "DOZENTY" is a Down South of the 48th parrellel saying that means many Dozens but Less than a Few Hundred'eeees . . .

OK, I need my wake up COFFEE, I should never Right, err Wright, uhh, WRITE before coffee,

Exit, STAGE Right, hobbleing on three legs, so to speak (cane in hand), COFFEE Maker SMELLS approaching my Nose, (Its a Long Fellow)
