  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

DavidR8's shop shenanigans

Looks nice. I bet that floor brightens it up a lot.

It's too bright. It needs a few piles, some oil, and lots of other things on it to look warm, appealing, and like a place you want to work in....

I basically sit on FB Marketplace. Once the algorithm figures out what you want it feeds listings to you.

Do you have saved searches or just freewheel it?

Around here, Facebook rules for farm stuff. But KIJIJI is better for tools and machinery.

I do have saved searches but mostly I just search for whatever I'm looking for.

I’m not sure about Facebooks’ algorithm.

I suspect they use 1,000 monkeys randomly tapping on 1,000 keyboards to decide which ads to display.

Example, one screen worth of stuff I was selected to view.

A mechanics creeper
Some magnets
A hot stamp machine for printing t-shirts
A wood router
A support bearing
A water filter supplier
Seva, a charity that provides vision services for third-world countries
A contest on TSN
A Russian? singer
And crotchless lingerie.

I do hide ads that are irrelevant to me so that may be why I don't get ads for lingerie etc.
