Is it an Edmonton or Albertan thing to charge both an environmental fee and a deposit for plastic water jugs?? I knew Sask you could take cans back.

Back when Ontario started a glass and plastic recycling program, most proponents suggested copying the pairie provinces. But our guys wanted to show the prairies how to do it right and failed miserably. Egotistical idiots. Now the Ontario programs are both a sham and a shambles too.

Received a nice 66 in a 50 tax the other day in the mail just my pleasure to hand over $80 more. Could have gotten a good set of adjustable parallels with that money;).
 
Getting back into the swing of things has been a bit of a much.

Since getting back I started rebuilding the garden beds for the new season, only to be thwarted by snow! (again!)... I did squeeze in a VFD install and a "it followed me home"... I'll update when I catch a breath.

Pictures one day as well! I promise!
 
So more than a month of gardening, digging and creating soil mix from old soil and compost... I haven't had much time in the shop or to update my 'finds' from the April trip (shudders in horror)

In short, Dissassembled 2 garden beds after removing 18" of soil, rebuilt them to a (taller) standardized size, refilling with 24" enhanced soil mix. Moved 18 wheelbarrows of sod and packed soil out of the area for a new bed, and partially filled it with new soil. Only need to move another 20+ wheelbarrows out and to the dump before the bed is finished...

A deal I've been negotiating since January closed and I ended with about 60 lbs of 416 stainless rod, some 316 stainless angle, round and square tube, and about 500 lbs steel, including angle, 24' I beam, 60 feet of shafting and lots of .100 and .128 plate pieces... Pictures soon as I buy a new USB C cable!

The lost phone was at mmcmdl's son's house where I'm doing some wiring. Oh - and plumbing fixes to my house. Saving grey water for watering garden instead of going down the drain.

I'm tired just writing about it!

You can kind of see the 2 rebuilt beds on the left.
All the grey stuff in the middle is stainless, and all tubing, uncluding the 4X4X3/16 are DOM.

Awesome steel haul ...im just completing a project of double decking my car hauler trailer and only had to buy $40 worth of bolts for the job, everything else was built from crap iron around the place...it might not be "factor looking " but it works for what I need.

This is a job I gotta do someday soon too. Not looking forward to it. Not even sure HOW TO DO IT!

I have a 27ft flatbed trailer that I originally bought to move with. I put stake sides on it and used it as a moving van and equipment hauler. It easily paid for itself many times over.

Mine is similar to this but has a 4ft beavertail and the ramps slide into pockets under the deck instead of standing up on hinges.

The pressure treated wood deck is rotting and needs to be replaced.

The screws appear to be self tapping. Getting the screws on new boards to line up with the old holes seems like mission impossible. New holes would only accelerate corrosion on the old holes. Corrosion on this trailer is already a big problem.

Thats a lot of work @ Dabbler. Not sure about the birds, don't think they are ptarmigan, the ones I have seen do not have stripes on them and even mid August have been white with a few black? Speckles, also feathers rite down on to feet - that part is hard to see from the picture. Maybe a type of pea hen? escaped.
Nice material haul!! Only time there is too much is when unloading by hand and finding a place to put it.
Don't envy you @Susquatch, trying to line up holes in a deck. Paint the rails and put the deck board on quick, take back off, holes MIGHT show up for drilling.

IMHO...... Just weld the old holes closed, grind them smooth, paint, and re-deck. I think it will be quicker and easier in the long run. I found those self drilling, self tapping screws worked 2 outta 3 times without melting the drill point, I wound up pre drilling a starter hole and things went much better.... I did mine last spring, as I could put it off no longer....
My 2 cents worth which probably isn't worth a tinkers darn. :rolleyes:
