Bambu Labs to implement an authorization and authentication protection mechanism

Since I am retired (and tired!), I don't have the extra moola to spend 250$ and then do it again. I'd rather spend the 700-900 once only. Like buying a bigger mill than you need. ;)

Make sense. I said it in my earlier posts, we each negotiation for ourselves how much give and take we're willing. I just think it's important all the "facts" are laid out, so folks can make the right decision for themselves. IMO, the Bambu thing is proportionately overblown, hyperfocusing and condensing broader (very serious and real) issues onto the Bambu.

The Bambu might not make sense for a lot of people here, but it absolutely makes sense for a lot more people who want their 3D printers like they want their home automatic espresso machine. How many of us use open source software, vs just paying annual subscriptions to rent from Microsoft, Autodesk and Adobe? There's no shame in the latter.

From my older brother, 50+ years as a systems programmer.

Bambu implemented a security system using public and private key encryption, and them set up the private key configuration to use the same key for all users. This meant that any user that cracked the private key theoretically has access to all users machines. A cracked Bambu private key was posted to various websites a couple of weeks ago, causing Bambu to go ballistic about security and implement the current software debacle.

Older brother took a look at some of the Bambu code and suggested it was written by a first-year CompSci intern.

He was just about to buy a Bambu, now he’s looking at Prusa again.

Well aside from some of the issues so far I do really like this Bambu X1C & AMS. Busy printing the desiccant containers as I've bought some colour changing desiccant and the little RH&Temperature gauge.

I printed the one that holds the gauge first just to see how it all fits. I used the support filament for it. Still so cool so see it switch for those transition layers.
Came out nice!

Now printing the rest which will take 7 hours.

Currently inside the AMS the temperature is 27.2C and the RH is 15%.

I’ll be very curious to see how my printer will match up.

Does your new one also have an AMS? Does the bed go up and down (and all around... sorry, couldn't resist the rhyme).
It does have an ams.
And the bed does go up and down and all around :D
It’s an Anycubic Kobra S1
