Does the Name "Chambly Machine Works" Ring a Bell with Anyone Here?

Hey everyone, just curious if anyone could enlighten me on who Chambly Machine Works is/was. I had never heard of them until I got this 4x60 belt sander last year at an auction. Used it once to flatten a Dodge 5.7 exhaust manifold but the belt that came with it was tired and just barely finished...

    Merry Christmas!

Hey Everyone, I know not everyone celebrates Christmas, but many of us do. As well, it is understood that there are a few different calendar systems on the go but the Gregorian is the most commonly used for at least civil and governmental purposes, and it is ticking up one increment soon. So...

Machine Anyone Here in Northern-ish Alberta with 575V 3 Phase in the Shop? Might Have a Deal for You

Well, a buddy of mine showed me pictures of a Baldor pedestal grinder at an auction a week ago, and I threw a bid in on it. Should have known better as the label wasn't easy to read on the picture, but figured if it was 3 phase would probably be 220V, no biggie. Well, it's 3 phase but 575V. It...

    BP Clone Riser Block

Have to say a big thanks to @John Conroy for selling me his 6" riser block, and for wanting to come hang out and install it. Slightly different shade of gray but no biggie at all to me, I'm all about function over form. Went pretty painlessly and it was just great to have adult conversation...

    4 Free Fluorescent Tubes

Hey everyone, I got a bunch of fluorescent tubes a while back at an auction, many of them brand new. As I'm setting up my shop the fixtures are getting new bulbs where needed. Turns out these four have an end style that I can't use. So, anyone in the greater Edmonton area (or passing through)...

    Giving FreeCAD a Try

Hey everyone, after some suggestions I was curious about FreeCAD and if it was any easier to use than the last time I tried it a few years ago. So, I got the latest version and installed it. Still not quite getting the hang of parts of it but I think I'm just too used to Fusion and Alibre Atom...

    Canadian Hobbyist YouTubers

Out of curiosity, who do you all watch on YouTube as far as Canadian YouTubers? No, I'm not looking for any special treatment here, especially as I haven't put anything out in over 2 months, and the fact that I'm just an auto mechanic who dabbles in this whole metal cutting addiction. I would...

    International D436 Injector Tools

My buddy Ryan has an old 1979 International 1440 combine with a D436 engine in it. He needed to pull the injectors and injector sleeves so I cut some tools for him out of a highway tractor rear suspension torque rod. It really was just straight lathe work but figured someone might find it...

Well, Finally Found a Used Shaper, Took the Plunge

So last Friday I took a 3 hour drive to pick up an old shaper, an Alba 1A. Only 3 pictures on the website, so was a bit of a gamble. Unfortunately a nasty flu had started in our house beginning with my son a couple days previous, and I started feeling it coming on during the drive home. So, it...

Adjustable Pedestal Feet for 12x36 Lathe

Hey everyone, I know this isn't a very intricate project like some of the other cool stuff on here, but figured to share it anyway as the 12x36 import lathe seems to be a fairly common unit. I had thought of making a workbench and getting rid of the pedestals altogether, which is what...
