I went through an 820 Logan years ago and found shims under the back left hand side of the head stock. The lathe came from a machinists estate sale and was in pristine condition except for spindle bearings. I got lots of not very nice comments about that on the Logan forum; "it's junk, sell it...
He hammered out vases, watering cans, bowls. Made a few copper/stained glass porch lights. Tap,tap. Interesting to watch him form a vase or a dish from a circular sheet.
I went with 8ft Hypercon conversion tubes from Amazon what a difference! Only issue is insane static on the FM radio and they are somewhat directional so there's not a lot of reflection from the white ceiling
I have one that's 1/2" X 2 ft x 4 ft for $75....Has a few 1/2" drilled/tapped holes usesd to mount jigs from my dads copper smithing days..
I'm in Oliver
Had a 10 in. Logan, sold that, bought an 11 in. Logan on legs and then found an 11 in. on a cabinet in SoCal for next to nothing.
One road trip and 4 years later I have an 11 in x 36 refurbed Logan on a cab and sold the #$%#$@ Peg Leg 11 in.
Mine's a Clausing 8520 w/MT-2 spindle. It came with an 8in Rotab and 6 in original vise, both HUGE on the small machine.
It needs a new X axis nut; really weird shaped 7/16 LH thread
Purolator says it doesn't need to be crated but there's a $21 "surcharge". Probably because it has a handle and you can just pick it up!
Crating it would push it past the 50 lb. freight limit too.
Hopefully the Purolator rep in Penticton has some concrete info tomorrow. Getting tired of endless...
A fellow in Saskatoon has a 45 lb., 10 ton ratchet (house moving) jack for sale and I'm wondering if some fine gentleman in the fair town could pick it up and drop it off at Purolator for me. I can make it worth your while. It looks like Dec 8/9 is maybe the "warmest" for a while.

I'm in Oliver BC, 20 miles from a re-shipper in WA and bring stuff from FleaBay and Amazon acrosss frequently. Anything new up to $200 they usually let slide, same for used lathe parts. A lot depends on the agent. Last used lathe (11 in Logan) was brought across free as "parts for one I...
BE NICE! After 3 Red Seal trades I went back to U of A for a OHSE Cert. Mostly common sense for people with construction/industrial experience.
Toughest part of the job is push back from the white hats who don't seem to be able to read their own safety manual and forget the cost of training a...
My "shop" is in 2 separate buildings; one insulated with a bit of heat and the other a glorified wood shed with no heat. Running back and forth for tools gets stale real quick; neither is big enough told all the tools for all the machines so I've ended up with 2 of a lot of stuff. Painful!
I...
