Welcome to Westwood Metalworks, What is he building in there?

I don't shoot anything that moves that doesn't get eaten.....
Its a good thing you stipulated moving, or id assume you were a big paper eater.

I have a similar rule, except I exempt raccoons that make a habit of getting into my garbage, and foxes that like chicken wings as much as I do.

Been a while since I've done anything in the shop except pile shit in there and close the door.....I feel like making some angle grinder holders for my welding table. These will be 3d printed, and I'm going to post as I design and go.....

First off, they will mount/clip on here. This 1" square tube runs all the way around the table, and is a great spot to mount things.

Next I use my printed radius gauges to find the size of the guards. They've both different, but I'll simply just upsize the cradle to fit either.

Next a quick sketch on whatever is within sight....a box form a set of casters. Perfect.

And here's an overall pic of the state of the mess right now....

Too busy between cleaning up a bunch of outdoor stuff and work stuff to do much of anything in there, but these holders should help a bit with the mess 😀

Next is to make a 3d model.....

Sliced and sent to printer. I'll stay up to see the first layers go down, but hope to wake up to a pair of finished holders. That hopefully work 😀

So theres a point in a design where I get the "bones" of the part, like I've shown above, and can either take it farther down the refinement path, cutting out all unnecessary material, smoothing and shaving. But in this case, I just want it done, and want it to print reliably ovenight. It's just utilitarian. When I built the table I was planning on making some out of steel.....but how long ago was that? I just want them done.....
