I chopped 2" out of it, and I think it looks much better. I'll just machine a custom hammer to strike the dies instead of trying to use the stock short flat face one. Which will no allow my to use the stock short flat one as a plannishing hammer instead of the longer one. Which is probably much better than having all that stickout.....
On Karl's design the swing arm is removed for planishing.

Yep, I'm doing the same. I just wanted to keep the distances right so it worked out that I could use a stock (but modified) flat hammer for planishing once the tool arm is gone. I though that was assumed, but I didn't clarify it....sorry english is my 2nd language sometimes....

Something like that. But with an appropriate lower die.

I wanted to make some more rolled steel wheels like I did last year, just in a larger 14" size. Was drawing up a radius template to print on paper like I did last time and thought.....Hmm, why don't I just 3d print some. So one thing led to another and I decided to make them from the 14" I needed all the way down to 3" in 0.25" increments......I played around with the design a bit, from solid with painted #'s, then settled on gray with a one layer black infill. Using PETG filament.

I've got one build plate from 3-6.75 I just started printing, and it'll probably take another 5-7 to run out the rest once I actually finish modeling them....The get larger the bigger the rad.

Maybe tomorrow for those wheels....Maybe not. Golf course opens tomorrow and it's been a Loooong winter.....we'll see how it plays out.

Funny you say that....was just doing that after dinner.

4/6 inside 8' from 65 yards (from the backdoor of the shop), the other two went a bit long. I quit after that as I was just wasting them lol

Im going to try to revive the backyard chipping green again this year. Its a lot of work, but also a lot of fun. Keeps the wedges sharp too. Kids will have some fun with it too.

Same here, started just before the Tiger Boom in the mid 90's when I was about 13. Was golf crazy until about 23/24 when work, women and life got in the way....but got back into it a lot more in my late 30's again once the kids got older and time became easier to come by. Fell in love with the game all over again, but for different reasons and ambitions than when I was younger.

I'm in the northeast corner of the GTA in Kendal. About 5k past the east end of the 407.

3 more plates to go now.....

Better get busy making a storage system for them now...... I'm thinking individual holders that are in turn held in larger shelves in a rotating storage tower....... That way each one is immediately available on demand. A sort of magic super pile.......

The last time I was on a golf course, had to dress like I was going to a fancy party and they wanted me to have a big bag of sticks with different size knobs on them. To top it off, they seemed to have to know weither I was rite or wrong handed. They looked at me funny when told them that depended on if I was chopping or splitting wood cause either depending on which way needed to swing, mostly shoot left, and write left, playing pool mostly left. Said make it left, they handed me a big of sticks, I only took two. Said what the hell do I need all them for, just me playing or do I have to take enough for everyone. I took a kinda light one for close up work and a fairly hefty ended sucker for them long needing a bit of convincing shots.
I do admire them that like that game, but it sure seems to make a walk last a long time. The dog likes to watch them at it, I think he knows more about it than I do. I have noticed that he will not give the ball back if he gets it, he getting a small collection now.
