Clever.I'm such a luddite I did it with Excel and squares to represent my machines. 🙄
Yo, see if you can click on those walls and drag them out a bit. It's a whooooole lot easier to move stuff around with a mouse...

I spent tonight downloading machine models form grabcad, adjusting them to my actual machine sizes (close enough for these needs), and playing around with different layouts. If I hadn't lost the models for my sortmaster rack, toolbench hutch, and my stock rack, I'd have those in there too. A lot nicer moving stuff around this way than with rollers and a pinch bar.
I think I came up with something I like. I'll give it till the weekend, and maybe start shifting things around.
It's from 2006 before I had decent CAD. Totally didn't factor in shelf space or the bigger newer compressor. The sheet metal stuff or bench grinder never made it into this area. Nor did the casting bench.I think I used Paint to make this. Dropped in screen shot images of the tools. I think.

Apple iOS app called Rooms.
Tried that. Gave me a false high that I actually had that much more room to work with.Yo, see if you can click on those walls and drag them out a bit.
Not to mention the piles.Tried that. Gave me a false high that I actually had that much more room to work with.
Reality is going to set in even harder when I start adding all the other stuff like the lathe, shaper, welders, etc....
You've been doing CAD all along - Cardboard Aided Design.Seriously, I cut paper models of the footprint and arrange them by hand on a template of the room. No need for a puter.
You can laugh but I'm taking a box back to ON with a cardboard template for a part. Sometimes older technology is still reliableYou've been doing CAD all along - Cardboard Aided Design.
I'm taking a cardboard drawing home tonight myself to make a couple parts to get Dad's tractor back to being slightly less ghetto..... I just spent the last 3 days unfixing the creative wiring of days gone by. 🙄 😛You can laugh but I'm taking a box back to ON with a cardboard template for a part. Nope, sorry Don but I think you're closer to Cro-magnon, Neanderthal's were the smarter ones. 😀Reckon that makes me a Neanderthal

But does the tractor have a clock? Two birds one stone here 🙄I'm taking a cardboard drawing home tonight myself to make a couple parts to get Dad's tractor back to being slightly less ghetto..... I just spent the last 3 days unfixing the creative wiring of days gone by. 🙄 😛
Does the hour meter count? I fixed that while I was back there too, however, it might be backwards....... it could use a few less hours on it anyway. 🙄 😛But does the tractor have a clock? Two birds one stone here 🙄
To build a liberty ship, you take these plans, then lay out each steel plate in 1:1 scale on heavy paper stock. Cut out along the lines to make a tracing template. Then you roll up the paper templates, take them over to the fab shop, glue them down on to sheets of steel. Find a chunk of chalk or a grease pencil and trace the template on to the steel. Grab an oxy-acetylene torch and cut out your tracing. Weld together. Repeat until the hull is finished.I'm taking a cardboard drawing home tonight myself to make a couple parts to get Dad's tractor back to being slightly less ghetto.....
