  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

VFD programming Hz ?

Small sample, but I have had great success buying used on ebay from the second group. Usually pay about $100 or less shipped.

I purchased two new from the first group, and one failed within a year with little use, the second is okay so far, but really does not get a lot of use, if it fails I will never buy a group one again.

I would avoid anything without:
+ flux vector control mode
+ external braking resistor

Most guys are way better off looking for a reputable brand used off eBay.

For example:

That one would be an awesome drive for someone.

Yaskawa has on their website under the v1000 model: failure rate 1 in 10,000.

Mtbf: (mean time before failure) 28 YEARS.

A similar drive from Mitsubishi has a 5 year warranty….. they post average lifespan with normal use (example of normal use: running in a factory 24/7) for their machine drives: 10 years.

Amazon drive vs Japanese name brand drive, or most other name brand drives is apples and oranges.

The Japanese drives are typically bears to program though…. European/American companies (Teco/Schneider/Vacon)usually have an easier user interface…. But almost always less warranty.
