What about this $50 recip saw at HD? I usually think ryobi is pretty good but I have a couple duds. A cheap vacuum works all right but it’s so loud I don’t want to use it. An electric planer failed after a few uses. Drills, sander, vibration cutter, detail sander, small lawn mower, have all been good. Anyway this recip saw is lighter and smaller than the brushless version they also have for $180. Anybody have one of these $50 ones? I want to cut metal with it besides the usual construction tasks.

I've got a princess auto powerfist recip with a cord.
It has never stopped in the middle of any job.

Where a fella should spend money...is the blades...

In your case, for a recip that'll see occasional use, works with the batteries you have and is still only 50$...
In my opinion is a good deal.

Just stick with good quality blades...
I'm a fan of the Diablo Steel Demon series myself
My dry cut saw, my 4-1/2" grinder, my hole saw kit ...
I get decent life from them.

Here's one that looks new with 2 batteries & a charger for 50 bucks

It’s one hell of a deal: US$79 down here:

The only problem is that you’ll need to spend more on a battery & charger so you can try it out. I’d try to get the store manager (not a supervisor, the actual store manager) and see if they’ll let you try out a demo unit (they should have one) and then decide. It has a 3 year warranty, and although I don’t have sny cordless Ryobi tools the corded ones I have or had were good. I have a Craftsman C-3 19V recip and it works great.

If it looks new and only $50 with batteries & charger there’s got to be a catch (and I don’t think the warranty is transferable).
