  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. This plaque was the first project I made with the stock lead screws, it was crude but effective for what I needed to do after being excited for getting my mill converted.

i now have 2 of the 3 axis running on ball screws and am hoping to have the Z done next week, im sure other guys with children can relate to not having enough hours in the day to do everything we need to. I am wondering if anyone else has a CNC conversion project they are planning?
 
You don't need kids to not have enough time, so I can't even imagine what it's like WITH kids. [emoji14] How has the process been? Relatively straight-forward or a pain?

lol @EricB , youre right, there is not enough hours in the day.

the process is straight forward on paper but when i really cracked into it there were little hick ups along the way. The y-axis saddle needed to be machined more for the x-axis ball screw because it was interfering. That meant tearing it apart again, milling it, cleaning, oiling and re assembly. along with setting the backlash between the ball nut mount, gibbs and keepers and i will be honest i had to walk away from it for an evening:mad:. i still dont have the z-axis done lol.
