  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Hmnn my $15 mystery box didn't turn out quite as good as I hoped....
Guess the socks are decent. Not much value in the rest (at least to me) Like I need a picture of myself on a puzzle!

Todays' haul was 12 pair of work gloves, a back of the car seat kick protector, 24 slot socket holder, 10 feet heavy gauge copper ground wire, 20 inch inner tube, 2 self closing ratchet straps, 2 balls of twine, 7 socket extensions, 3 double box end ratcheting wrenches, 7 1/2 in drive metric allen socket drivers, 2 cold chisels, tube of rubber cement, paint brush, handful of assorted brass air fittings, 3 inch bimetal hole saw, 5 inch grinding disk and a bearing kit for a 2000 lb trailer axle and a tiny gopher sized t-shirt.
For 15.92 I'm not going to complain .

Was this some kind of clearance or odds N sodds? Seems pretty eclectic for a normal sale.....
It's usually crap they couldn't sell, sets of something with a missing piece because some rat bastard took the 10mm socket out of the set, I assume some of it is returned items because they didn't read the tag until they had broken it. It's always a crap shoot. For a while this spring almost every mystery box had dozens of bits of fishing gear....hooks, weights, swivels, leaders, spools of line. The boxes are usually out on the hydraulic counter in morning. Pay your money and take your chances. No peeking and no returns.

Where is your PA at @Doggggboy ?

My nearest is in Kamloops, and I don't think they do the Mystery Box thing, there. If they do, I have never seen it.

That haul, as shown above, would have me hooked on those boxes like a tool junkie! :D

Regina.
Sometimes the boxes are pretty good, like today.
Sometimes not so much.
They still out on the East side of the city there?

I was in Moose Jaw, at the Air Base there, from 1992-1999, spent a fair few hours at the Regina PA sorting through the Surplus stuff they used to get in, before they tried to go all respectable like. LOL!

Yup. Just south of the #1 hwy beside the now closed Peavey Mart.

Am wondering if the locations of Peavy Marts was planned specifically to be in concert to PA's, as the Kamloops PA was a few shops down from the (also) now closed Peavy Mart.

IIRC, Peaavy Mart as a Brand, was bought by the folks that ran the Co-Op stores out in the prairies. Shame to see it get run into the ground, they had a lot to offer the rural community...
