Well, it’s good to see there are some locals. I’m not on here much. I really don’t get much time but I check in from time to time. Thanks for all the returns.
Hey, I think I forgot to respond to some of you Gentlemen about a similar question a while back. AFAIK there's no official number of posts, it's just encouraged that as many members as possible join in on the conversations and perhaps share a little bit of what you are up to in your shop. As without member participation, there's not much of a conversation going on to keep us entertained.
How did you make out with your pulley repair on the Atlas lathe? Did you rebore and sleeve it, or go with a new (other) one?
There was a bit of a gap between the East GTA and Ottawa, but now you fill that void. You're just close enough to drive into the GTA for our next meet up.Napanee, Onatrio. After reading this list it sounds like I'm about the only one out this way.
Well I know Aylmer fairly well, been there often (and to the Aylmer in PQ for that matter). Imperial Tobacco's old warehouses are there. My family used to tour the north shore of lake Erie every summer. We'd meet up with US relatives and camp at the various parks.looks like I may be late to the party here, so here goes... checking in from Aylmer, ON! and no, not Aylmer east(Quebec).... as we are sometimes referred to Aylmer west around here. 40 mins south of London. Ontario road tripping, snowmobiling and offroading has had me in many of the places I read about on this feed, and 1 trip to the KOA in Thunderbay to visit (for the last time) a sister-in-law we lost in 2015, we have a a big and beautiful province here! I wish they'd fix the lake road north of Erie from Amhurstburg to Fort Erie, embarrassing how we seem to think we have an "Around the Lakes" self guided tour, to include our southern brothers, and we have 2 massive permanent detours to navigate around! not sure who's to blame here, but the municipalities need to buck up there and get it done! erosion was claiming the lake road between Port Bruce and Port Stanley and central Elgin township bought the surrounding farmland and moved the road inland far enough for many more years of safe travel, so it is doable by others, just need that initiative, lake road between Port Burwell and Turkey point for example, or the road between Blenheim and Leamington, google maps shows it passes through, but zooming in you can see the road blocks... I've been on a couple lake tours, and they are awesome! love to go around Erie again the original way! anyway all, if you're passing by, drop me a line and swing by! cheers! master sparky by trade and a dabbler in machining now for at least 20yrs does NOT make me a pro, just someone who loves fabricating when one hears those words that seem to spur me on, "that can't be fixed!" anything can be fixed, its just how inventive you are vs cost! I usually lean waay to hard to the inventive side of things! like the time I installed a Jeep YJ body onto a 1st gen Ford bronco frame, just because...cheers!
welcome from ScarboroughHere in Peterborough, Ontario
that Imperial building was bought by developers with a unique plan to use the site "as is" instead of demo, Planet Shrimp was in there, my brother in law works for the group that developed it and built that part of the building up for Planet Shrimp! I haven't heard in a while, it wasn't showing profits as they had an illness come through and wiped out stock, not sure where its at now.Well I know Aylmer fairly well, been there often (and to the Aylmer in PQ for that matter). Do you know "Planet Shrimp" which is/was located in one of the old warehouses? I toured the place early in their operations but have since lost track of their status, I think that they've struggled with technical issues and the need to buy shrimp larvae from Louisiana and jump thru quarantine hurdles
Pretty sure they went belly up.
