Machining Vises & Chucks - Online Auction, Brampton, ON

I have the high bid on 18 items at the moment, that will change I'm sure, they would all be nice to have but the Starrett level, cylindrical square and 4 jaw chuck are the items I want the most.

If I bid on the Busy Bee milling machine and was lucky enough to win, are there machinery moving services that I could hire to bring it 40min north of the city?

sorry to tell you that I'm sure I'm going after some of the same lots, given the numbers. But not your mill. I would have but hope to have a surplus of mills soon myself.

I just got off the phone with my brother, we were discussing lots. We will drop out of some if requested....

@140mower Don I am sure you won't let an opportunity like this slip by:D even two lots for you.

Opportunities seem to only come around twice a lifetime!!!

Too much interest in this auction, led to some stupid bidding.

One bidder wanted all the metal at pretty much any cost it seemed they were determined to take everything. The 4140 lot went for $330.

Someone really didn't want me to have the new lots of taps, but I hope the price they paid stings a bit. Bidder c****Q

I tried to scoop the surface plates at the last minute, because the price was less than pouring an epoxy granite base... but then it wasn't as bidding went to over 175.

I got a few things I wanted though.. I think my brother and his friend did too. But I saw my brother stop bidding on the box of drill bits at $320 as it sold for 330

It was a record price that I have seen for the busybee mill at auction

I won 12 of the 18 items I bid on, some I was happy to be outbid as I didn't really think them through before I hit Confirm.

I’d made a list of what caught my eye, with bids listed including premium and tax. 15% isn’t too bad, but if it was one of the ‘25%, all prices in USD’ auctions, I can see how there could be some shock, when you got the invoice.

I followed along with the ‘live auction’ briefly, but couldn’t stand the format. Constant dinging whenever someone bid on something close to closing, constant notifications about something not on your screen ending soon. Felt faintly like a casino (I’m guessing, not a gambler).

Placed my bids, and turned it off to read a book instead.

Missed the Harig, but I’ll live. Not sure what it went for, I’d bid $190.

Got the vise, the two parallel clamps, one of the bearing lots and the threading files, for $175. Vise was $110, which I’m pretty happy with.

Somehow missed this thread until now. I was bidding on a few lots, and had high bid at some points, but then seemed like this auction got a lot more eyes on it, and auction fever broke out in people. I was hoping to pick up some set of broaches, That gauge block accessory set, and a few lots of material plus a couple other things like that demagnetizer. Once the material went nuts I didn't really keep up on the rest of them because I no longer wanted to make the drive and kill a day driving for the smaller stuff. Oh well, saved me a trip to Brapton this Saturday, so I actually feel like I won this auction really....:D

Yeah, I was bidding on the demagnetizer, up to $50. They come up often enough on Kijiji etc., I think there’s one listed now for $100. If I can go get one any day of the week, I’m not going to chase one at auction.

I'm going to be picking up my stuff 9:15 - 9:30am tomorrow if anyone needs a hand loading, I can come earlier or hang around if that helps.
With the 15% premium and GST, that extra 28% is certainly a sticker shock, I think I'll just stick to kijiji in the future.

I’ll be there at 10-10:15, same thing. :)

And yes, while I like the idea of a great deal, I’ve yet to see an auction that yielded any screaming deals. Good for the seller (whoever it is in this case, I wish them a happy retirement), and good for the auction house. Less so for buyers.
