Label maker - do you have a recommendation?

Rivet/glue a plate on the handles?

Good idea. Pop riveting is within my skill set.

Could also use magnets on a standup plate on the drawer door face.

But I'm prolly gunna live with organized chaos till I can't.

@CWret - Top label below is white on black in Dymo - Classy. But available for touch too.

Middle label is XXS on Dymo

Bottom Label is 5pt (smallest available) on Touch. Dymo doesn't do borders (that I could find).

Get a touch.

The picture is better on my phone. Server guys are limiting res on here. But you can still see the difference. Real world is much more dramatic. I'll txt you the original.

One package of 1" heat shrink labels arrived for the Brother. Big enough to slip over an ethernet cable end.

I printed one label just for Poops N Giggles on a piece of 3/8 dowel. This is prolly a worst case label.

Total success.

Very Happy.

The Dymo Ryno is going back.

I see in the App store for Brother the “iPrint & Label”
Is that what you are using?
You like it?
Also saw the “Brother P-Touch Design” App

Answered my own questions- just got the iPrint app and played with it a bit. Pretty easy for my first couple minutes. & yes it is specifically designed for each of their printers- nice

Here is a full review of my findings

Power
- Dymo 5200 didn't come with a 120v adapter or a rechargeable battery. Instead it takes 6 AA Alkaline Batteries. A set of brand new batteries didn't last more than a half dozen labels before showing low battery. Note, this could be the low temp in my barn this time of year.
- P Touch Cube has a rechargeable LiIon battery that is still going after several dozen labels. It uses a USB micro charge port. No idea why not USB-C. Dumb but it works.

Label Size
- dymo is 1/4 to 3/4. Prints on many different styles. Handles Heat Shrink.
- PTouch is 1/4 to 1". Prints on many styles including heat shrink.

Fonts
- Dymo likes large fonts and resolution is lousy with its smallest fonts
- PTouch fonts can be set directly in points as low as 5 point which looks just fine even though it is very small

Lines of text
- Both can be set for multiple lines.

Graphics
- Dymo does not print graphics.
- PTouch will print graphics.

Speed
- Comparable

Tape Wasting
- Dymo does not waste tape even for one offs.
- PTouch wastes 1" of tape for each label printed. However, this waste can be eliminated for subsequent labels by printing continuous labels and cutting manually.

Tape Cutting
- Dymo has a built in manual label slicer.
- PTouch has an internal automatic slicer.

Summary

The lack of a power cord and low battery life on the Dymo 5200 is a major flaw. But it is a totally stand alone labeller that does not require a smart phone or a computer. It is also fast and quiet. The max label size is only 3/4, but it will print multiple lines and handles heat shrink labels for wiring. The two smallest font sizes are poor resolution. It does not handle graphics, outlines, or borders. I would happily recommend it for basic stand alone labelling as long as the low battery life doesn't bother you.

The Brother P-Touch PT-P710BT is a very powerful labeller but it has no keyboard so it does need to be paired with a smart phone, tablet, or PC. It handles a very wide range of highly readable fonts and does borders, outlines, and graphics. It also handles full 1" labels including Heat Shrink. It's only flaw is a bit of label waste that can be minimized by printing consecutive labels. I happily recommend it as a premium quality Labeller.

No matter which label printer you have, GET SOME WHITE ON BLACK LABELS - VERY VERY CLASSY!
