Because I tend to be forgetful and leave my hearing aids and phone behind I decided that I wanted glasses off close sharp vision. The price is I'm still going to be near sighted which means if I want to drive I have to wear glasses. But for the first time with a -8.25 and -3.5 before I'm supposed to now have about -3.5 in both so tiny things will be the same size.SWMBO has had cataracts removed from both eyes, as well as getting new lenses. Ten minute procedure per eye, a few days of discomfort.
If you have the option, go for the better-grade aftermarket lenses.
We have excellent medical options and caring, competent doctors.
First time, I dropped her off at St. Paul’s Hospital front entrance and then went to find a parking spot. By the time I found a parking spot she was all done and ready to go home.
I was pissed that parking at St. Paul’s cost me $15.
I get it. Given that I only have one working eyeball I was a little stressed and having it done as well.Thanks. Apparently the stuff they use to dilate the iris for surgery can last 24 hours so that explains a lot. This all has me very scared to be honest.
My wife had one eye done at a time. She said it was like looking at a new photo with the good eye and a 30 year old color photo with the other.Cover the new eye and a Phillips HUE lamp in the corner has a yellow tinge. Cover right eye and the the new lens allows whiter light through so the lamp has a different colour. I didn't expect that. I didn't think I was having discoloration issues.

I only have one working eye and the Cateract got so bad I quit driving all together. My eye doc wouldnt do the surgery until it got that bad because of the chance of complications and I would be left with no eys at all...so finally he did it...BEST EIGHT MINUTES OF MY LIFE!!!I get it. Given that I only have one working eyeball I was a little stressed and having it done as well.
Every morn I open that eye and thank the medical world and the skill of that Doc.

Since I only had a cataract in the left eye and the prescription for it was -8.25 while the right was -3.5 I opted for a lens to match the right eye. That way small objects are the same size, I don't have to remember to always carry reading glasses. The other day at a ballroom dance practice a friend who had both done to be far sighted couldn't look at photos on my phone because he'd forgotten his reading glasses. You will be fine. Your eyeball isn't even angry, it's unbelievable how much better you can see afterward. What prescription did you get?

I think this would just fit inside this frame. I'm going to check to see if that can be done. I don't want to spend a month with only one useful eye.Huh, I thought you electronical types would have wrapped electric tape around the nose rest piece. 😛

Thank you for the support.I'd have gone with normal distant vision myself in anticipation of getting the other eye fixed at a later date, but that's because I am mostly an outdoors guy. We all have different priorities.
Setting that aside, just be patient John. I don't know anyone who regrets getting their cataracts fixed. After your eyes settle down and the dust settles, go get properly matched distance driving glasses and you will be amazed at how much better your life is.
Patience is a true virtue. It's easy to say but hard to embrace.
Cheers!
