I've never seen a 7/16 X 16tpi before. I also see the nut has an integral washer. Cool....................Daniel

According to my Starrett thread guage it is 16 tpi..........................Chawbeef

7/16 should be either 14 tpi or 20 for NF I believe..................Chawbeef

One thing you will learn hanging around here. Thread standards only apply when the maker follows them...... I think I am the master of getting screwed by screws. Here is what I have learned the hard way.

Step 1 - is identifying the thread pitch using a thread gauge. If one fits EXACTLY, you get to go to step 2.

Step 2 - is the diameter. But don't forget that the diameter is usually reduced for thread clearance. If you are lucky enough to find a diameter that matches the tables for that thread pitch, you get to go to the next step.

Step 3 - test fit a nut or screw. If you have been lucky, you have nailed it.

If not, throw the thread gauge back in the drawer. Time to figure out what you really have...

Your tool holder is a lantern style rocker tool holder. They often predate thread standards. Which means they might match a standard or might not. Praying does not help. Ask me how I know.....

That is clearly a specialized screw. I would not mess with it unless you have the skills and equipment to duplicate it. That means you must find or make a nut to fit it.

Don't get hung up on what the standards are today. Just go by what your measurements tell you. You can often buy specialized taps that don't meet modern standards.
