H-M site down ?

Was calling on the Dab , and I do see you're on H-M sometimes . ;)

I try to read every post on CHMW. Or at least scan them. It's an onerous job. I doubt very many members do that. The best way to make sure John sees a post aimed at him is to use his user name with an "@" in front of it (eg @Dabbler) or to send him a PM. These methods will generate a notification to him. Otherwise, he isn't very likely to see your note.

Yes ,the same as on H-M . I saw Dave was on at the time I posted so I figured he'd chime in . We're up and running now . I do the same thing also , scan posts to keep it a friendly site .

Both forums are based on Zenforo so they are similar in many ways. But H-M has 5x as many members. Keeping up with their posts must be 5x harder. I knew that David and John were staff there but didn't know you that you are also staff there till just now.

I'll keep that in mind.... (Insert evil smile here).

I read every post as well, there's too much good info hidden among the thread drift to not read them all. ;)

Isn't that the truth!

I know some don't like the drift, but I do - both for the laughs and for the knowledge. It's my opinion (perhaps not a popular one) that the drift makes our forum richer than it would be otherwise. Then again, it might just be my piler mentality (organized chaos) showing its head.

It usually doesn't take me very long, and if I sound out the bigger words I think I even understand some of it... Pictures help a lot. :p
However, it would make going back and reviewing some of the information a lot easier if we can find it..... Maybe when the drift looks like it's going to stick, one of the participants could start a new thread in the appropriate location, and we can dig into the subject a little deeper. If the drift threads can be copied and added to the new thread that would be great, but the original posts should stay in their original location.....
After all, if we don't encourage conversation, all that we love about this place fades away with the missing future posts. Even if a post is somewhat off topic it still brings traffic into the original subject.
.......or, maybe I am wrong, and about to be voted off the island.:p

Edit.... What @Downwindtracker2 said, it just took me longer to spit it out. :p

This a great discussion - albeit definitely off topic.....

I struggle with this whenever I clean up a thread. What to leave behind, what to copy, what to move, and what to just delete. Usually, I copy everything and then cleanup or delete what doesn't fit in each respective thread, always trying hard not to lose content. Almost always done by request. The OP gets heavy favour - after all, it's their thread so I try to respect their wishes. Others chiming in, not so much. On rare occasions, I might make three threads out of one. Someday I will royally Fk up and regret it.

Perhaps even harder to do is removing insensitive or offensive content. This is a no win process. I try to do what I think is right, but always knowing someone isn't gunna like it. This is when rules are most useful. Also really good to have other moderators to bounce thoughts off of. But I'm not a fan of too many rules.

Sorry if I sound like I'm venting...

You will hear no complaints from me on how this forum is moderated, while it's not often discussed, I think we all enjoy the freedom this board offers.....
Vent away, it too is part of what makes up the understanding of how things work around here...... And, thanks for all the moderators and admin both past and present for all you do to keep us in line and online........

Has anything been done with, I use xyz then something in the text line as the hyperlink that can change its colour from the black type? I almost missed one from Peter today

There is likely a setting I can tweak.

No real change. The ones I’m referring to are the ones that don’t have the HTML identifiers and are using plain (black) text as a hyperlink.
