I cannot be absolutely free of any obligations and make my completely personal/unapproved decisions for that amount . I am not living in the vacuum and my best half is the same.
BTW - I made my short list but still not final choice: midsize CNC mill or good watch.

Go for the mill! Watches are nice but you can't do much with them (I say this and I make watches ) besides Rolex is way over rated, I've yet to understand how a company that produces more than 1 million watches per year can charge the prices they do.....good marketing I guess. If it must go to a watch at least look at a micro brand like a Direnzo or a mainstream brand like Oris....both brands within your price range. Good luck and show us what you bought!

Interestingly enough - I started to check stores for Rolex and realized it is UNOBTANIUM. Waiting list for 1+ year without guarantee !!!??? . You need to by some stuff for 2K even before they will put you on that list. Crazy!. Two weeks ago I was in duty free in Paris CDG and they have display only Rolexes. What a mess.

Ya the jewelry stores are just piling on with that type of marketing, I'm surprised it's only 2K you need to spend to get listed.

I say buy a Rolex clone for $100 and use the leftovers for the new mill;-)

I said earlier in this post you can’t just go to a Rolex Ad plop your card down and buy any Rolex you want. A lot of people don’t understand the process of Rolex. Go ask for a Daytona lol…. 10 plus year wait if you’re a nobody and you will never see it. A Daytona will minimum double in value the second you walk out the door.

Not all Rolex dealers make you spend money. I didn’t. I know for a fact the Ottawa dealer (Howard’s I believe) does this. I bought my sub in 2020, during Covid at the peak of demand and had it in 2 months. Very unique situation and I got lucky. Got my wife’s a few months later but women’s Rolex are way easier to get.
