  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Here's the modified spindle drive using a timing belt/pulleys

And here's the KBSI-240D installed in the bottom of the cabinet with the Acorn board.

Thanks again for the input ... now back to regular scheduling :)

Since I'm on a roll, do you guys think it's possible to hook up the direction controls to Acorn via the relays (M03/M04)?
Here's information from Franco's Youtube video on his PM-728 machine:

Was wondering if leads to magnetic switch could be connected to the relays.

Thanks !

<possible>

Can you get us the specific model of the KBIC controller board? There’s usually a label on the back of the heat sink. Some of the KBIC boards can survive open armature circuits, some go up in smoke.

It is possible using an interlock relay that cuts power to the KBIC board when changing direction, that’s what was done in the original factory configuration on my BB CT129

Speed control only from Acorn would be fine. I don't think you'd miss the manual controls - and if so perhaps a pendant is in your future? I did not buy a pendant as it is a bit pricey from centroid - instead I bought this weird USB puck thing. I'm using it for manually moving the axis around.

I have one for my CNC router running MACH3. I really like it.
