I bought a pair of those goggles from Lee Valley years ago. At the time, the offered tinted lenses as well, which I bought, and like for extended brazing work. The limited peripheral vision is sometimes inconvenient, though. I was using them while torch-cutting apart a crappy workbench made from 3”x1/4” angle. Severed one of the legs (poor planning on my part) and didn’t see it fall. Right onto my foot, on end, just behind the steel toe. Clean break, healed up quick.
I have a couple of pairs of these that I use for brazing:

2.5 diopter Shade 5; decent peripheral vision and OK side protection.

I got a new I-pad so I could some what keep up with the forum and reply back without having to use my phone. While some would not think of it as a tool, it is, as much as a phone (when I get it a bit figured out) as is different then the old I-pad. A bit high on the trying to predetermine what I print. Trying to figure out the pen? thingy my wife got for it (it’s not apple).
Sometimes it seems that it is trying to reduce thinking, knowing, and doing all to it, and turn me into an idjit, see, it sure did’t like that word!

Third time is the charm right? I bought myself for boxing day an electronic edge finder for my CNC. The first 2 (many years ago for the first one and 2 years ago the 2nd) were smashed by making moves that did not trigger the tip, and instead crushed the body. I still vividly remember the last one, couldn't hit e-stop in time and it was just barely crushed, along with my spirit. We'll see how this one goes, its the cheapest one so far at $68.07 after discounts and free shipping. Prices on these cheap ones keeps falling but I hope to stop needing to buy them...

Ok guys. What tools did you get or buy for yourself for Christmas?

Geez, yea,....xmas came early for me, from me, to me....-) And December was an expensive one....

Thread pitch gauges, thanks to a thread here...thought I should have better ones than those that came in my Mastercraft Tap & Die set
Digital angle gauge....thanks to a visit to @Darren ...he suggested it ;)
Aluminum cutting inserts thanks to a thread here...blame that one on @Susquatch ...he suggested them ;)
New tailstock adapter for a live center...blame that one on Precision Matthews, but it was a flop...did not resolve the issue
Several airplane parts...blame that one on my friend Peter who got me into flying, and Trump for threatening Tariffs....

.....I might have to hibernate for a few months to recover from that spur. No tools from management, but only cause I was on my own roll and did not give her any ideas....

You guys are both a good .....and bad influence, simultaneously! Thank you!

Cheers,
Happy holidays

I guess the gifts kept coming to our house, cause yesterday (boxing day), I was notified by management that "we have no water" so, me, being Santa Claus and all, went to Home Depot to get us a new pressure tank, fittings, etc and gifted my day to changing those out.....

For the stocking, I left myself a couple small leaks to chase down today....

Looks quite spacious. My pressure system is in a 12 foot deep, 4 foot diameter hole beside the well. When the pipe or the bladder leaks the hole fills up with water enough to short out the pressure switch and we lose the water. It's no fun at all to change the tank in a hole that size. Only saving grace is that I've only had to do it twice in the last 23 years.
