Cheap Bstrd Thread

I usually just grab the nickel tab as close to the weld with long nose pliers as I can and just rotate the pliers. The tab just peels off. Often you can just solder the tab onto the new battery.
That's basically what I did.
Careful with that - if the batteries are old and dead, they may be NiCd. So what did you replace them with? Rechargeable alkalines, some lithium, or what? Battery chemistries all have different charging characteristics, and there are combinations that can result in real trouble e.g. mischarged lithium batteries catching fire.
I checked the batteries before I purchased. Both said NiMH, so I figured I was good to go. I was only slightly nervous about the whole thing.
If I failed, it would have been race to the store for another shaver. I'm not a beard fan. Any longer than 3 days and I'm going nuts. I start at my chin and go all the way to the top.

My Braun rechargeable shaver wouldn't hold charge anymore.

having not shaved for about 40 years, this problem is utterly foreign to me.

I had a beard before I met my wife and shaved it off after we were married cuz she insisted. Next day her girlfriend called me and told me she regretted getting me to do it and wanted me to grow it back. I did and I have had it for 50 plus years. I've also always cut my own hair and trimmed my own beard. Yup, I am my own favorite cheap bastard.

Hi Guys,
My wife is insistent that I'm clean shaven ! Currently every other day, and twice if we are going out...

This is the part of the job where it falls apart for many of us. Breaking off the welds is rarely easy. Soldering on new ones (or the old ones) is usually a, mission from Hell.
Meh.

Use a Dremel to remove a spot of the shiny plating, almost always, the underlying layer will take solder in a heartbeat. Get in and out fast, so as to not make trouble for the battery cell.

And, there are a fair few DIY spot welder instructionals out there that will allow you to make your own very capable spot welder.

I just knock it down with the electric clippers about twice a month, a woman commented on my whiskers and I told her I haven’t found anyone to impress yet.

I'da told her that any woman worth impressing would like me just the way I am! Let her figure that one out.

A couple years ago I picked up some free shelving. I had one shelf leftover and looking for a new home. So with a couple brackets salvaged off my old recliner I attached it to the wall behind the lathe and turned it into a backsplash, with tool shelf and a few pegboard holes.....

I asked the younger guy unloading me for my nails back. He handed them to me and asked why I wanted them back. I said the whole point of a re-useable nail was to re-use them. He looked at me like I was the one with two heads and not the nails

Plus if you get them back they're not in your tires. I swear I can account for every nail I have lost, through tire repairs over the years.... looks like it's time to straighten a few of 'em. 😉

I tried explaining the "extra 2x4 under the heel of the crowbar trick". No bueno. He tried telling me screws would be better, I said my cordless hammer works just fine 🙄

The magnifying work lamp that I recently replaced was sitting with a burnt out fluorescent bulb on a work bench for several days. New LED work lamp was a huge improvement in every way. So now what to do with this one? Thought of modifying it into a cordless rechargeable lamp. But I didn't need a full sized magnifying desk lamp for anywhere else. The magnifier was the part I wanted to make use of again. So I decided to take it a step further:

A handheld cordless rechargeable magnifying inspection lamp🙂 (patent pending):

Built from the guts of a $5 rechargeable LED fixture and parts from the original magnifying lamp:

Puts out max 200 lumens but has 2 light levels:

Turned out better than I expected. Better viewing size and more convenient than using my phone with the magnification, especially if my hands are dirty or if I am wearing gloves.

And Happy Good Friday!

The bearings on my busybee bandsaw B2442 horizontal and vertical were completely seized up. I guess after 20 years of use, some coolant and fine grit got around the bearing metal shield cover and gummed them up real good. I decided to give them a well deserve ultrasonic bath. Using a small flat screwdriver I carefully peel the shield on both sides and then dunk everything in a small container of varsol, floating in the ultrasonic cleaner. They were so dirty, I had to replace the varsol and do a second sonification. Then came out clean ,grit free and spining just like a new"ish" bearing would. 🙄 The shield are so thin they got distorted a bit during removal. Using the right diameter size socket wrench, I was able to reform them back to their original shape. Re-packed the bearings with grease and pushed back the shields on and they worked just like new "ish"
