A near miss and big consequences

Mine is mostly itchy now but they say the pain can be 8 to 10 out of 10 for some people.
I hope I never get shingles, I will be looking into the Shingrix vaccine as soon as possible. 8 out of 10 is pretty high pain I can confidently say, having been there and above 3 times for sure (a bunch of other stories).
My dad had a DVT - he was travelling for work and he was lucky he was with someone clued in enough to drive straight to the hospital after looking at him.
Best wishes on the recovery to both of you.

My mom had shingles twice for sure, and maybe a third time. Very painful. The vaccines were not available at the time, but once there was one, she lined up for without hesitation!

If you've never had Chicken pox you can't get shingles. If you've got shingles you can't give anyone shingles but you can give someone chicken pox.
The Shingrix is available at pharmacies here in SK but only with a prescription from a Dr. It's a 2 dose vaccine.

That is true. But if you have never had Chicken Pox, you can still get Chicken Pox anytime later in life and THEN you can get shingles.

I know from family experiences that I did not want to get shingles so as soon as I was able to get vaccinated I did. I don't remember if it was the first dose of the vaccine or the second but one of them knocked me on my keester! Very rough 3 days I believe. The other dose was unpleasant for me as well but not nearly as bad.

So here's the lowdown from my Pharmacist wife. You may not know you had chickenpox as for some it barely presents itself. For example our older son had 4 pox. Our late son Misha was covered.

So the advice from Pharmacists is get the vaccine anyway.
