Fast is a relative word. For me my car is quick, when a car requires a parachute it's fast.

What truck do you have? What bolt ons? Last time I was at the drags some sort of newer Dodge diesel was in the other lane for one pass, it emitted enough black smoke to rival a coal fired plant and was still about 20-30 car lengths behind my 10s car. Not sure what bolt ons he had but that behemoth appeared to be running more like 12s or 13s.

This seems consistent with what I observed at the track......
They have physics working against them, 6400lbs that's a lot of mass to a accelerate regardless of horsepower. Most 10s cars weigh less than half of that and require > 500HP to get into the10s

My 9000 pound F350 played with a mustang north of Wilmington NC and the mustang backed out of it. And yes I was running a radar detector but we easily hit a dollar, mph. Not 1/4 mile sure but the pickups can move

I don't do this stuff, but .... I'm pretty sure my electric car can get up to those speeds much faster. There's a story somewhere about a lady (in Arizona?) with a Nissan Leaf that puts the hot-rodders and electric skeptics to shame regularly.

I think for people that have never been in a truly quick car that take a ride in a 15s car will think or say wow this car is fast. Well perhaps compared to a grocery getter like a Corolla.

The rule of thumb at the track is every 0.1s is roughly a car length. So the "fast" leaf is roughly 50 car lengths behind a 10s car.

Almost any warmed over V8 in a decently light chassis will do 15s, 1/4 mile times.

I think for people that have never been in a truly quick car that take a ride in a 15s car will think or say wow this car is fast.

Very few people know the feeling of an 11 or 12 second car. VERY FEW. Even keeping the car in its own lane requires skill. For those who haven't had that experience, I'd have to agree that a 15 or even 17 second car would feel amazing! But compared to an 11 second car, it's still a slug.

I think a fair number of people also confuse 0-60 times with 1/4 mile times.

I do see that there are a few ultra expensive specialty cars that can do 9 seconds today and that includes a few electric cars. The exceptions prove the rule I guess!

Agreed my days of fooling around on the street are ancient history. It just too dangerous. I recall a situation where a fairly fast car challenged me, I was in 2nd gear and my car was drifting left and turning the very light feeling steering wheel was doing nothing because the wheels weren't touching, time to center the steering wheel and lift gently. I had drifted out of my lane pure stupidity.

watching hot rod magazine guys like Freiburger, Dulcich and Finnegan...they spell it out pretty easily...once the cars aerodynamics start to come into play...every tenth quicker requires that much more power to overcome drag...
So I have to wonder how much Alex Taylors 1950-something Plymouth Savoy is putting down to run in the 6's

I've personally never owned or driven anything quicker than 14-15 second's...I simply couldn't (still can't) afford it...
Me n some cronies from high school would make the short, 20 min drive from Lumby to Vernon, just to spend an evening pulling "mainers"...
life was simpler then...rumble up n down the street, wave at the hookers, avoid the cops, park in the Safeway parking lot, and congregate til the late hours with the hoods up...
IF we were gonna race...it was outside of town...way too dangerous downtown...besides the noise attracting every badge within earshot n eyesight, Vernon's main street also cross sectioned the highway through town...just not worth the risk...

I takes a certain kind of personality to drive car like that. I recall watching a friend of a friend make a (slow) 6s pass in his alcohol funny car. The track was not well prepped and he was all over the track at the far end > 200MPH and sideways. Pulls the chute and 5 minutes later were talking and he's as calm as calm can be, my buddy commented about how sideways his car was going through the traps. His response ya track is too cool I spun the tires for the entire pass really slow, shrugs his shoulders. I would had to change my shorts.

I own a 2023 Ram TRX. Stock, in good air it can do a 3.9 0-60. I haven’t modded it yet but plan to shortly. Larger blower, injectors, pulleys, fuel pump, cooler will put it into high 10’s easily. The best part is the short block, tranny, etc can handle it. That’s 10’s on stock 35 inch tires!

9’s domestic off the showroom is a Dodge Demon 170. I could have had one but in cars I’m into speed and handling. Before this truck I owned a 2020 Camaro Zl1. 650 hp with a 6 speed stick. Problem with the camaro is I only got about 2000k a year on it. I already have 30000 on my TRX

My first car when I was 16 was a Camaro. Dad and I build a 355 for it. 11.3:1 compression, comp cam, aluminum intake, camel heads, headers. I grew up with a 300-350hp car as my first and kept going from there lol

Yellow car was my first Zl1 a 2012 with a 580hp LSA engine, then custom ordered the 2020 with a 650hp LT4. Now the 702hp TRX that I daily. None of them feel fast to me as you get used to speed very quickly.

I had to stop riding street bikes as they were way too fun…

If you have a Tesla P100D with plaid yep you can. I was on a wait list for almost 3 years to buy a Hummer EV3X as it was suppose to do 0-60 in 3 seconds flat and weighed 9000lbs! Would of bought one if the didn’t jump the price from 130 to 160k.

There was an internal video a dealer showed me on it. In testing it was wheelieing and they had to detune it for the street.

Fairly quick for stock, 12s and mid 11s, not lacking in power, just a bit on the chubby side for a drag car;-)
