It's all new to me. Todays adventures in Facing, turning, and parting. I'd love some input?

Grab your coffee or beer and have a seat, and listen to the story of a rookie gettin' his feet wet. I finally had free time to start making actual chips with this old lathe (SB 10K). I'd scratched out a few things with some scraps but it was time to learn how to work it. My QCTP was fitted...

Is there a newbie thread to read on properties of different metals?

Rookie question, I know. I did a couple searches and came up empty. Is there a more recent thread than the Sourcing Metal sticky on different types of metals? Maybe one with their machining qualities? The local metal supply shop (B&D Steel here in Burlington) is pretty friendly but I'd like...

Anyone around in Hamilton / Oakville corridor available to mill my QCTP base?

I received my Accusize quick change post and need to have the base fit to my compound. I will remove the compound and bring it for measuring / fitting. See photos of block and of the old post base attached. If anyone is available to do this operation asap please drop a message. Thanks.

Good Morning. I'm quite new to machining and have a SB 10K that I want a quick change post on. I'm starting from scratch so I need... well everything, so cost is a factor. Is there any difference between the Accusize pieces vs the direct import pieces? If they're the same, is there any...

    Hello from Burlington, ON

Greetings all. Rookie from southern Ontario. Recently purchased a SB 10K to begin into some metal working. I hope to use the lathe to repair and create tooling for work and pleasure. Already used it to repair an $80 tire balancing ring. Thanks for the ad.
