leadscrews for PDM30 mill - took measurements tip-to-tip of leadscrew (not just threaded area):
x - 35 3/8 RH thread;
y - 17 3/4 LH thread

...very close but there are a number of versions out there...

OD is .925, 10TPI - that OD is what I'm focusing on re: minor differences between brands

re: PDM-30 nut stripped; I bought a PDM30 from a fellow and indeed the nut AND the leadscrew are worn to the point of excessive play. Mind me asking where you bought your parts from? KMS sells the machine but gave me the 'after warranty period, its not our problem' speech and I've tried a few King Canada depots but the prices are crazy....$138 + shipping for the nut and another $342 for the lead screw...

I didnt blame KMS for the quality/wear issue...I do take exception to their 'we wont help' in Calgary and have experienced on other items.
FWIW - KMS has a repairs/parts department in Conquitlam - they ask the other stores to direct customer requests to them...but they admitted that Calgary store seems to not be aware/refrains from mentioning that is an option.

I bought the nut from King, and yes, it was $140 ish bucks. The lead screw they sent me under warranty

@Susquatch you are 100% correct on the ease of keeping that oiled properly (or lack there of). I have been trying to come up with a way to make/ install a tube somewhere so it will oil directly on either side of the leadscrew nut. Copper tubing and some ingenuity with the mounting...years of fixing old farm machinery might pay off yet...LOL

On my profile. What can I say, I am most likely the oldest one in this group. Seen a lot of things, good and bad. Also built a lot of things with my hands. Actually Sport Aviation is my hobby. Been to KOSH 42 consecutive years. Of those 15 times with my own handiwork. Have 2 Lindy's from there. 25 years worked in Air Canada's engine shop (Power Plant, Dorval)

94 eh! Well that might well be the oldest! Gives me a new bar to aim for!

My dad was still driving at 94 too. Made the 9 hour drive to Manitoulin at least twice a year. He is gone now.

But driving is a lot easier than making stuff. Are you still machining too?

Yes, I do make things when the need arises. Not as often as when I was making "Homebuilt Airplanes".
Transport Canada was on my back to give up flying for my pleasure.
I do have an Atlas 6 in. lathe with a milling attachment to play with. Also an Atlas Shaper in good condition but I don't have much use for that, perhaps should sell it. The lathe is a keeper for now.

I'm not sure about pistons. I see import cast pistons available but only for standard sizes, Wiseco don't list them in their current catalogue. It could be challenge! I wouldn't suggest you tool up for just one set of cylinders unless you plan to take in other work. . Jim Titmus has the tooling and did my Kawasaki 2 stroke triple. so that's an option. What's your thoughts?

Here is an article about it. The long arm fastened to the bed works the same way as an adjustable stop on a drill press. It has free movement of the tool till it hits the end stop.

Ah. In the front page photo posted it's cutting an external thread. I was trying to figure out how something angled that way would stop cutting internally.
