  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Welcome Leo. Look forward to your projects & wisdom. Do you already have the machines of choice & its more about garage shop setup? Or are you in 'acquisition' mode? :)
I am a retired postal worker. Have done a great deal of woodworking. But have switched to metal for a change of pace.
I am a semi retired Machinist, that has many interest in a wide variety of topics. I hope to set up a small shop in my garage.

Hello John I thought I PM'd you when I got back from our trip, but I can't find it now (old age... sigh)
Just wanted to come by and pick up the brass if it is still available.
Your 15" lathe?... I am looking to eventually upgrade from my 12X37... can I see a picture when you decide it is time?
I'm writing this as a PM because I don't like the limelight. I moved my 1500lb mill from Vancouver to Calgary in my own trailer - by myself. Add a 3000lb safe, and my 3000 lb milling machine that unloaded by myself, I think I can help you. let's talk by phone however. 403 827 1434 any time before 2am - I usually get up about 7am
Fair enough. Ive put together a bundle of 3x0.125, 5x0.12, 4x0.95 3x0.62 and 1x0.03
I could go for some of that. Can I get 10 lbs from you?

Sure, any particular thickness?
Hello, I'm contacting you in reference to a post with pics of your ct1440 lathe that is identical to mine in appearance. I have looked extensively online and even called cantek but cannot seem to find the correct manual. Would you be willing to send a PDF copy to me? Thanks for your time!
Does anybody know where to purchase the square extruded aluminium that they use on the DIY kit for CNC Are there different sizes available?
It would be nice if there was someone local that can supply it. Are stepper motors also available locally. What is the difference between a 270oz. compared to a 500oz. stepper.
I'm doing a little project with my nephew....

The only place I have seen extruded aluminum of any form was at metal supermarkets, but they're generally overpriced. There are a few online suppliers too though.

the Oz/In rating on steppers is the amount of force that the stepper can hold without spinning. See: http://www.romanblack.com/stepper.htm
My phone is 647 (redacted) - you can text me. I am back from work late each evening but I can arrange for my father to show you the stuff.
