Ground a new (external) HSS bit so we shall see...
Huh....... wonder why one of us didn't mention hss? 😉 😛Okay I am much happier with this. Self-ground HSS threading tool with minimal shoulder. Threading away from chuck.
Now I need to grind an internal bit...
Sir, I am LAZY. I want an easy off the shelf tool usually hahaHuh....... wonder why one of us didn't mention hss?
Are you channeling Sus ?Self-ground HSS threading tool with minimal shoulder.

I just overshot the OD a bit. Threads in fine on the test plastic parts, but haven't made the corresponding brass part yet.The machining looks great, but I do have a question.

What is going on with that thread profile? Is that big flat top intentional? What does the internal thread to match that look like? A SusCAD hand sketch would do fine.
First my threads are too pointy. Then they're too flat. Okay Goldilocks 😉 <3The machining looks great, but I do have a question.

@Susquatch I need to go back over your math for nice thread shapes before I do the next version
I've found a digital copy but haven't had time to spend with itDid you get that machinery handbook?
It is kinda dry reading all right..... but the section on external threads is to die for. 🙄I am not smart enough for this book 😛
