Working on my South Bend 9C

You could buy a nice shiny new 14 gauge extension cord, cut off the receptacle end and wire that end to the motor. Easier than putting on a new plug and you get the length and colour of new wire you want at the same time.

Or better yet a free extension cord pulled out of the trash can down the street cuz it had a few cuts in it........ LOL!

Our local grocery store use to have a 10 yard dumpster bin in their parking lot that was a dedicated E waste drop off,
I was in there a couple of times a week cutting off power cords and rescuing perfectly good equipment.
They finally hauled it away and it didn't return, I guess they weren't making enough money with all of us scavengers diving in.

ER32 collet chuck has arrived so I can carry over much of my tooling and workflow from my wood lathe!

It'll need:
- New felts and of course a flush/deep clean and oils
- Figure out mystery noise from motor/counter shaft
- Probably a few replacement gears
- Ideally a new lead screw
- Probably fine to leave the weird motor placement, with appropriate measures taken to address belt tension
- New belt
- Fix wobbly gear cover
- Look into backlash in all the dials
- Get/make a cover

What did I miss from our inspection?
- Electronic lead screw conversion 😉
- Got a NOS spare spindle which is nice!

That's very sensible! Just gotta figure out the felt situation.

That one really worn gear y'all spotted is part of the spindle, I think. Most likely to need replacement and the worst to do haha

Notice how @DavidR8 has left lots of room between items 8 and 20?

On the felts, look into getting them printed from PETG...
I saw buddy from Inheritance Machine do that for one of his restorations
