Tips/Techniques What are you printing today?

Tips/Techniques
I'm guess the answer is yes- if your part is 2 inches high, could you program it to stop at 1 inch to let you change colours?

And it would have no problem restarting now that the bottom half has cooled off?
Yes you can also program it to stop whenever you want. It's handy embed things like magnets or nuts too. It will keep the bed heater going, but generally it won't have any problem extruding the new plastic into the old if it's cooled down a bit. This is the way multicolour stuff was done in the olden days before AMS 😀. I'm sure there is a measureable difference in adhesion for that first layer again, but I doubt it's much. I'm sure some youtube nerd has done a 7 part series on it at somepoint.

I suspect it is actually a casting as it is not cold to the touch, unlike soapstone which I have in raw pieces. The other pieces are legit hand made pieces. West coast and Africa. A friend of mom back in the ‘50s brought from Africa and they are not leaving my family. Never mind selling them.IMG_1037.jpeg

Improving my tap/tap drill storage. I use Alexander Chapelle's ModuBox (and its predecessor) as the base for a lot of storage.
The bottom half of the new tap storage is a 21mm stackable ModuBox, the top I designed myself. 12mm semi-circular grooves to hold small taps and related drill bits (stub length). the bottom box holds spares.
Making some larger diameter ones as well,
The first photo shows my solution from a few years ago when I first got my 3D printer.

The last photo shows it stacked. Nominally 110mm square. They sit on a 55mm grid. The yellow holder is hollow underneath (design as a box, then shell it out.)
Gridfinity started from this idea several years ago, I still find Alexandre's solution easier/quicker to print and modify.

Not worth a build thread as all I really did was buy the dxf files, send them out for laser cutting to CutMyParts.ca and then bolt them together once they got here.
But you can have a picture.
I got a couple of dies with it but figured I'd try to make use of the lathe and mill to make my own instead of buying them.
I would probably use somebody local for cutting next time. It would have been at least a hundred bucks cheaper. It was nearly 3 weeks to get the parts. A week of that was shipping because CanPar sucks for rural deliveries.

Looks good, I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do with it.....

I'm usually not into publicly shaming myself😳

This was the first thing I've ever had laser cut.
The accuracy was amazing. The feet on either side are cut to allow for flat shipping and then bending at home.
When I opened the box I thought they had missed making those cuts. Looking closer they had indeed been cut but the entry side of the cut was only .0015 wide. The back side was a little wider at .0025 but still!
I was amazed. I felt bad hammering them over to 90ish degrees and then spooging chickenshit welds on them.

Cut and delivered was 412.85 from cutmyparts.ca
SendCutSend was about 80 bucks more.
Both of them have online estimating programs.
Shipping on both was about 45 bucks
Local guy in Regina was 284.00 with pickup but came in late with the quote.
All the parts are either 3/8 or 1/4 mild steel.

It is a ... sheet metal shaping machine? He calls it a profiler.

Here is the designer/seller assembling one. I admire this guy! wow!

Karl seems like a pretty capable guy in terms of banging tin. And a Canadian in B.C.
Another good one is Carter Auto Restyling in Saskatchewan.. A bit more of an acquired taste but when he is done with a rusty fender you don't need any filler.
I'm gonna be ordering filler by the case.😕

Another Canadian one is halfass kustoms. All three are in my subscription list.
