Welcome to Westwood Metalworks, What is he building in there?

Coffee maker back in business after a couple descaling pots and a 2 of just water. Only a couple parts and screws left over too. 😀

You gentleman have nothing to worry about, I don't practice medicine on the side 'cept for the occasional mammogram.

I’ve got one 3 CM this time just waiting for the Dr’s telephone interview on Feb 16 on how he’s going to attack it I’ve had 2 through the pecker, one destroyed by sonics and one through the back.

Wow, you must have been pushing pretty hard to blow it out through your back!

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.....😀 Hope this one passes easily. 3cm though doesn't sound like too much of a fun time though 🙁

I’m not worried about it the sonic one was the easiest just lying on the slab while they play “Space Invaders “ afterwards you just sandblast the porcelain.

Ya, some pieces pulled through the urethra, but the biggest chunks through my back. They tried but couldn't penetrate the lower kidney below my ribs, so they had to get it done a few days later between my ribs. Horrible ordeal. You are the only guy I ever knew who had that done too. It's long time ago, but I still remember the name of the procedure - percutaneous nephrolithotomy.

They left a nephrostomy tube in my back for several days to drain it. I started throwing pulmonary embolisms in hospital so they cranked up my bed to do an xray and that pulled on the tube that was anchored in my kidney. I screamed like a banshee and terrified everyone in the entire hospital. It was amazing how many people were cured and went home that day.

I was never eligible for lithotripsy despite practically begging for it. So I have no idea what that is like.

When I say that I feel your pain, I really mean it.

Just think, we both lived to talk about it! Prolly should stop here though. Too many nasty stories to tell that nobody wants to hear.

The lithotripsy was no problem at all a bit of a twinge but nothing to worry about I didn’t take any knock out or pain concoctions it was a little discomfort but manageable. My biggest concern was that if all the bits didn’t flush out would they become the nucleus for a much bigger number of them.

I got the main feet done today. All caster holes drill and tapped for m10 (The casters I got back in summer for this...) Hopefully it'll be clearer how it all goes together as it comes together.

That's all I need to do before I can start welding it up. Hopefully tomorrow, maybe Sunday. The irony of "needing" the welding table to make the welding table is not lost on me. There will be a point after I get the frame welded up where it'll all be taking up too much space to move before I can cut the top off the current table, then slide the other cabinet inside. I can't wait to gain 2'x4' of shop space back.

Side note. I picked these markers up a while back and love them. Super handy for marking hard to reach areas like marking bolt holes.

I'll second the deep hole marker recommendation! I picked up a few of the Pica ones a while back, and they've gradually gone for 'deep hole transfer only' to 'always in the bib pocket of my overalls'. I especially like the Pica cap, stays put and I just pull the marker out.

I got out in the shop after lunch to continue on the welding table. First up was to weld the legs on the bottoms I made yesterday. Clamped up square on the table I tacked them all over before welding up solid.

Once I had both side done, I did a big cleanup (shoved everything from this side into the other side of the shop) and pulled my welding table out so I had room to work. Then started fitting them up. Tacked one leg to the table so I could hold it perpendicular. Then fit the other side with the cross pieces.

Once I got the cross bars tacked I checked the diagonals and was only 1/4" off. A simple squeeze with a clamp and I was able to bring them in perfect.

1000009852.jpg

It was now a table on a table.....

After welding it solid I cleaned up the bottom of the legs where the adjustable feet will slide. then bolted the casters on before flipping it.
1000009851.jpg

Now the "fun" part....
1000009859.jpg

I First tried cutting the legs off with the portaband thinking it would be easier, but ended up just going with a zip wheel as it was waaaaay quicker and easier.
1000009859.jpg

And the handoff.....
1000009860.jpg

NOW I used the portaband to cutup the old carcass. Nothing goes to waste here, I'm sure that tube will become something else around here someday.....
1000009861.jpg

200# flip...
1000009862.jpg

And some zipwheel work to cleanoff the old leg welds.
1000009863.jpg

I really debated cleaning up the entire bottom of the plate because of just how much of a mess it would make, but decided to do it anyway....I'm sure I'll regret that as everything in the shop is covered in rust dust now....But it looks a lot nicer.....

1000009866.jpg

And another 200# flip...

1000009867.jpg

I only stitched the top on with 1" welds on the front of each leg. No need for anything more than that. If I ever decide to mount a shop crane or something to it, I'll weld it out fully, but this top will probably be cut off and replaced at some point. It's not very flat.....

Home stretch now, finish line in sight.

Pulled the cabinet out and cut off the backsplash
1000009868.jpg
1000009869.jpg

There was a 3/4" MDF top skinned in this galvanized sheet metal. I pulled the sheet off, and hammer formed the back edge so it would cover the top of the cabinet. Without it, it's just open to the contents.
1000009870.jpg

And this is as far as I got before the dinner bell rang....
1000009871.jpg

Casters on the cabinet are bolted from inside so I have to empty it out a bit to get in there. Only then I can slide it in there and call this part of the project "done", but that's a tomorrow job now.
