Tips/Techniques Wall covering in garage shop.

Tips/Techniques
I hate drywall when I have to repair it. Been doing repairs and such for 30 years and I'm still not any good at it.
Maybe it's be mentioned already ....drywalls biggest benefits (in my opinion) are its fire resistant and it's cheap. It's also pretty easy to patch and repair to make it look new again.

In the past I have used cheaper grades of plywood gone over with drywall mud to fill imperfections. A light quick sanding, coat of paint, not to bad. Silicone the bottom edge to stop sparks rolling under, and or dirt etc.

I used the OSB in my garage in the areas that would see more "traffic". Drywall in the low traffic areas. Take a look at this thread...

Post 330.

In the garage where it's most crowded, benches down below, cantilever 2' of shelving up above (with lights underneath) and 3/4 plywood between the two. Nails, screws and dowels (I get a cold shiver at the thought of peg board) are used to cover the plywood with tools; screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, hacksaws, wrenches etc .... stuff that doesn't need to go in a drawer

When I say roller, I mean using it with a screw in broom handle. With the long handle you can really rock and roll, groan. They have screens that go in 5 gallon pail . The big fluffy sleeves can do anything.
