Literally any mag drill is better than no mag drill!

I watched the video, kinda strange you can turn the motor on without the magnet, I don't imagine it has the "magnet lift" safety either...or whattever you want to call it...where the motor turns off if the magnet comes loose

For that price, with 6 cutters, you don't have much to loose

I watched the video as well. As for the drilling operation drilling without the magnet on could be fixable, but something that should be done at the factory design stage. I was hoping that some of the members here might of had one for their review. for what I need it for it would do just fine I think. I have been looking on the used market around here with no luck for quite some time.

A while ago I thought about getting a mag drill - three things held me back. 1st -the price; 2nd - my fab table has a stainless steel top: and 3rd the price.
This Vevor rather does away with 1 & 3.
To resolve #3 (the SS issue), I made a custom drill that replaced my need for a mag drill.
I shortened an inexpensive bench drill press (Crappy Tire). I have to clamp it to the object being drilled instead of activating a simple magnet. The mag drill won't stick to my SS top and that's where I wanted to drill a pattern of 5/8" holes for clamping on the fab table. It takes about 15 minutes to reconfigure the drill back to its original design/purpose.

An easier way around the non magnetic issue is just to clamp a steel plate to whattever you are drilling and attach the mag drill to the steel plate, at least then you still get to use annular cutters

I have one just like that (aliexpress) and I won’t be without one ever again. Game changer

Mine came with 13 cutters, and they do really well.

The coolant tank is gimmicky but works

I paid 500 a year ago, sure better than the 1200-2500 Milwaukee wants for one.

Not sure how long the motor will last.

Mine has separate switches for magnet and motor. No interlock.

I am not short on drill presses, it is easier at times to drill the steel at a better location than it is to try and support the steel at the press. And the use of the cutters I suppose one could get an adapter for the cutters.

Somebody has to be the guinea pig, buy one and let us know :D. I've always wanted one, but never had a real pressing need for one. I've seen deals come and go for hougen, and milwaukee's for <$250, but it's sometimes tough to spend that cash to hold a drawer down when you don't need it.

I'll "need" one at some point in the next year to finish my sawmill build, and was also thinking about buying a vevor one, so I'll be curious to know how it is if you buy one. I'm pretty sure my buddy has one I can borrow, but for that price, if it's not total junk, I might just buy one to have. I'm sure I'll use it more than I thought.

I understand it's not as convenient nor nice as owning your own, but there are lots of rental shops you can get one from for an hour or more. If it's the sort of tool you're going to use 3 times in 5 years, save your money for something you'll get more use out of.

I still have time it's a summertime job, just researching right now. I could borrow on, but I don't like borrowing or lending tools as sometimes your tools come back broken or never see them again. I like owning the tool.

If you can find one that doesn't have a variable speed that's the way I would go. I can see that being a weak link, most mag drills do not have speed control, at most they may have a 2 speed gear box, but not a variable speed motor

That one is a big boy made for big cutters, probabaly weighs a good 50lbs, most general use drills are rated around the 1.5-1.625" capacity and spin about 450-550 rpm, that wouldn't be my first choice.....but any drill is better than no drill
