Heading down to Utah/Wyoming next month on a holiday. I plan on hitting a few craft breweries & some of the geological stops (Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley, etc.).

Any suggestions for interesting places to go/see/do? Food joints, off the beaten path surprises, etc? Prolly taking I15 down, coming back through Wyoming. Cody's Yellowstone brewfest is on July 19.

Thx, but not interested in the temple...

Yellowstone , Jackson Hole , Snowy Range , not sure when Frontier Days is but coming up soon .

I have a lot of family out in Cheyanne . My niece was Miss Frontier Days back in 96 , you talk about a party !!!

WY- take 191 north from Rock Springs to 28 over to Riverton, then 20 to Thermopolis, then up to Cody. If you have time either 14 or 16 over to I90 are very scenic mountain driving too

In Cody there's a Wild West museum @historicalarms was telling me about, as well as a Sharps museum or factory somewhere in that area? In Cody there's at least one range with a WIDE variety of things to rent.

From Cody it's about an hour to Yellowstone if I remember right, maybe less in a car

If you are interested in guns at all, Cody is the "mecca" you need to visit, the museum is usually considered the top in North America and second in the world (not only for guns but western history and astounding art wing, Charles Russe l& Remington are the highlights)...its not a 2 hr visit, plan 2 or 3 days .

The Sharps factories Chicken mentioned are not in Wy. but Big Timber Mon. ( a couple hrs drive north of Cody). Both Shilo and C Sharps factories are across the street from each other, both have a store front access and can eat up a couple hrs easily.

Ummm ohh ya...the food is outstanding in Cody...Big Bubba's BBQ, self explanatory and the Irma Hotel, Prime rib buffe' are absolute "must visit"...Its a 9 hr drive for me from home to Cody but these two places make it worth every minute of it.
For breaky, Ma's Kitchen has the best corn beef hash in the USA that I have found!!!

Huh. I've driven past Big Timber a number of times, never stopped in, save for gas for the Hawg once. If I can convince my lovely bride...

I've eaten at the Irma, but never the prime rib. Yep, Ma's is my go to breakfast joint, but I've never tried the hash. Will remedy that this trip. Thx.

Reservations in the parks Zion, arches, access is trickier than it was.

Golding’s hotel in monument valley is an institution. The Navajo taco is good.

I’m not sure when we can go again, given the politics, but that part of the world we love.

It’s gonna be smokin hot in August.

That's why we go in the 1st week of March, T shirt weather by noon, no line ups, no people.

Awright, made it back in one piece. Some major changes prior to leaving.

Checked the weather for said travel period in Utah. Predicted temps were 35-39. Uh, no. Chatted w/ my lovely bride, checked temps in Montana, predicted highs 25-29. Hot, but bearable. We're going to the Treasure State!

In order, we hit Going to the Sun Road & Lake MacDonald Lodge in Glacier Park, Kootenai Falls & the swinging bridge near Libby, the Alpine Roller Coaster at Lakeside, Montana Chocolate Company in Stevensville, the waterfall along the Skalkaho Highway, an afternoon being tourists in Phillipsburg, the Ringing Rocks near Whitehall, Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Mammoth Hot Springs & the Upper & Lower Yellowstone Falls in Yellowstone Park, Beartooth Highway, Zoo Montana in Billings, Devil's Tower in Wyoming & two days in Cody, WY, the second of which I spent at the Yellowstone Beerfest.

Sprinkled throughout the trip were a number of craft brewery visits & great meals at various restaurants, bars & holes in the wall. Oh, yeah: 4000 km & no power steering. The PS pump died on day 2. Yep. Fought the steering cylinder the entire trip...

@YotaBota, we truck camped & tented most of the trip. There were 3 of us.

@historicalarms, we ate at Bubba's, excellent 'cue, & had the hash at Granny's. Very good.

Good to hear you made it back.

Just a wardrobe question, I'm guessing you weren't wearing your "Canada Is Not For Sale" hat or your "Elbows Up" t-shirt.

Thx. It was a nice break & a departure from my normal diet of extended long weekends, et al.

No, I wasn't seen in those t-shirts, but for reasons other than you suggest.
