UPS gripe

Never had an issue with UPS here. Fedex on the other hand.....Nothing BUT issues. Right now having an issue with intelecom, that drove by last night, stopped at the end of the driveway, then took off. I thought the guy got out, and tossed my package (usb wireless adapter) on the porch, like some of them do, but then they marked it undeliverable because they said the front door was obstructed......Now they're not communicating, and have no rescheduled delivery attempt.
Yep, I've had issues with them as well.

Send it to work? They come by at 11 pm. 'Business closed'.

Send it to home? They come by at 8 pm. 'Business closed'.
The parking lot is full. Every window in the building has a light on.

I had an Ebay purchase (PAPR blower and faceshield) come recently, via Intelcom. After two failed attempts (one late at night, one midday), I finally got them on the phone and confirmed that yes, the next driver would need to come through the front door to deliver. They emailed me the photo the driver had taken, at noon, of our overhead/shipping doors to prove we were closed.

It's winter. You wanted the doors to be open??

We were sitting on the couch, and the Wife saw them stop at the bottom of the driveway. I just assumed they got out and actually delivered the package. There was no attempt made to get out of the van. You've come this far, just chuck the thing out the window, I don't get it?

Fedex will drive past our driveway (dead end road), turn around, then drive past it again then send an undeliverable can't find address email....Or they deliver it to the neighbors. Or they deliver the neighbors stuff here. Dyslexic drivers? No idea. Incompetence, and laziness more likely. I understand mistakes and accidents can and do happen, but this has been going on for well over a decade only with Fedex. The best was the time they dropped a huge box of hay baler parts directly in front of the door so I couldn't even get out of the house. They we're not even mine, but for a farm a few KM away with a completely different address CLEARLY marked on the label. I just delivered it to them, and we had a laugh about it lol.

I see that Travers has decided to ship to Canada exclusively via UPS. Won't be buying from them.
Well if you mean as a retaliatory 'don't support the crappy business' then I agree.
But specific to Travers, they deal with any UPS cross border headaches themselves. Travers USA to Travers Canada (daily orders of which your parts are within) then entirely UPS Canada to your door. I haven't done a lot of ordering with them until recent because their prices on specific items were better than KBC & the shipping charge was less too. My orders arrived lickety-split. I haven't had too much trouble with UPS inside Canada but I'm sure its statistical thing that my number will come up. But I think bigger companies have smack down power with couriers that us mortals do not. Just like Amazon fired Canada Post for a while.

If they handle all the cross-border BS then they will make Canadians happy.

I think I've ordered from Travers Canada once, for work, and yes, some of the items came from within Canada, others came from the States. KBC does the same thing.
No apparent distinction in price, the stuff shows up at different times but the ordering process is streamlined.

Bummer, hope you get your package after all that crap! I have found anything shipped from the US via UPS entering Canada through Vancouver is going to get held up! And not by a little but rather weeks and weeks. I too hate UPS, they once tried to charge me $47.00 duty fees on a $35.00 part, so I called to ask how that's possible, their reply, "we will offer a one time reduced fee of $12.00". I asked why it wasn't that in the first place, they couldn't answer.

I think its pretty much a case that if you pay your GST/HST when you buy, then the seller is already preclearing the item and there is no customs headache, which is likely what KBC and Travers are doing (same with Digikey). That makes things soooo much smoother when receiving - no hidden charges, they just need to get you your parcel (still a problem for Dan with his invisible & inaccessible address).

I got there just fine!

Is there a good shipper in Canada? Between Purolator and Fedex we had three recent parcels damaged. A large flat box crushed with a boot print on it another parcel crushed with a tire print on it and some small steel hydraulic lines that were shrink wrapped to a 8' 2x4 somehow they broke the 2x4.
