UPS gripe

Someone punched in a wrong letter in the zip,

At least they have an excuse.

I've had CPost send stuff to BC from London and then back to Toronto before going to Woodstock, then Chatham, then Blenheim. All with the correct postal code.

I had a parcel delivered by Canada Post on Monday. It was supposed to be delivered Tuesday and the tracking info says it is still in transit.

Canada post left me a delivery notice last Friday. I went to the post office to collect whatever it is/was and they have no record of the item in their system. I don't know what it might have been either as I had nothing I was expecting.

That wasn’t a text message was it? I get them all the time“ package can’t be delivered “ all to get you to go to the provided site to get my info, same as CIBC saying there’s a problem with my account I haven’t used them since the 80’s but I’m glad they finally noticed.

Well, tomorrow I’m getting a warranty replacement for my Mills Z Power Feed delivered… $500 US value, no cost to me yet.

Being delivered by UPS…

They seem to be a good outfit.
My replacement part arrived a week ago, brokerage done by Precision Matthews. No additional UPS charges.

My (unsubstantiated) suspicion is that if PM hadn’t dealt with the brokerage, I’d have gotten a bill from UPS.

Will FedEx or UPS be able to deliver to a Post Office?
No.
But out here in the sticks, the local postmistress is ok with using the street address of her house, which the post office is attached to, as the delivery address. Most of the carriers are ok with this as long as the package is not addressed with a PO box number. She then just hands you the package when you come in for mail.
The woman is a saint.

I didn't think so. There's talk of another strike at CP

That’s my biggest concern about the talk about USPS going private: as it currently stands, postal workers although unionized can’t strike. That will change if private.

Doesn't make any difference in Canada. However, the government can order them back to work.

UPS is in the music news. Guy bought a very special guitar had it shipped ups. Sends him a message guitar was destroyed claim the insurance. The guitar popped up for sale on one of the guitar sites. Another big case a couple years ago, guy had a car part shipped ups, as in one off part for a very specific car. Same thing lost in transit, claim the insurance. Couple weeks later parts on eBay. Ups has employees steeling and they don’t even care. Watch laytohs law on ytube, he just did a video on the guitar one. I stopped using ups when they charged me 120 bucks brokerage and shipping for 50 dollars worth of stepper motors over the border.

Canada post rant. I had a handgun shipped to a smith for work it got there no problem. I have it shipped back. Watched it get to the nisku sorting center and it sits there. I call them every day for a week. first it’s on its way tomorrow, finally I get told by a supervisor go through the insurance, it’s lost. I told them it was a handgun, funny two hours later the supervisor calls and says they found it come pick it up. So if can post loses a parcel tell em it’s a gun it will get there up most attention.

Privatize the Canada Post.
These guys have had it too easy for years.

Let some Seniors deliver the mail with the Flyer Routes.
Or,
There are plenty of Couriers that will compete for the Delivery Business.

Privatize the Canada Post.
I’d worry what that would do for mail service. Would rural people have to drive to the closest city to get their mail?

It’s doesn’t seem fair that UPS etc get the cream of the crop and Canada Post is saddled with the services it’s legislated to provide. Politicians need to decide what Canada Posts mandate is and fund (or not fund) it appropriately.
