  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Tom's new toy

Good looking welds! Did you weld up the tank yourself?
No, $50 swap meet special. I really enjoy a good swap meet. I drove as far as Columbus Ohio to attend the crazy good swap meet there. NASCAR parts used one race, for 10c on the dollar.

One time coming back via Detroit/Windsor I had a mega load in the trunk. IIRC if your under 1k for a weekend they often wave you through. Friendly (for a change) woman at customs asked me how much and I answered honestly " ohhh it would be more than 1k" her response "have a nice day." For once I saved some tax;-)

@slow-poke, just do like Smoky did, big tube frame rails.
I wish Smoky had time to finish some of the things he had been working on.
In another cheating iteration he used the roll cage. Good thing that variation didn't get in a fiery crash. I guess If you can't make more power, cheat.

Took a while to catch on that his 200MPH monsters appeared to be getting 30MPG.

As a update here’s a pic of the carburetor

And now the good news… it seems the person installing the fuel pump did a piss poor job of the wiring that’s now soldered in place and runs no problem the mechanic said that it looks like it is a crate motor so that verifies that.
Now to register it….. Grab your popcorn.
To start with Motor vehicle wanted the vin for a in transit sticker so buddy took a pic of the post
IMG_1943.png
When we went down there (200 km ) and filled out the bill of sale this vin was used so when I tried to register it at the MV it didn’t show up in Alberta ( which only goes back 10 years anyways ) so they said it needs a out of province inspection is in order, Well Crap says I. Next the mechanic points out that the vin doesn’t match the paperwork it turns out buddy sent the vin for the chassis not the actual vehicle. Armed with a pic of the actual vehicle plate I go back to MV to correct it where I was told it needs a new bill of sale from the seller to which I replied he’s 200km away they suggested email.
So what to do I crossed out the bad vin and wrote in the proper one initialed it for him and went to another MV he said you need to initial this too which I did and the universe started to align then told me he couldn’t give me the registration because my drivers license says Thomas and my insurance says Tom and I’ll have to get that fixed and come back to him I didn’t need to stand in line again so out to the truck to call the insurance to update my name…. I’m now the proud owner of a newly registered vehicle with plate.
Thank g….

I think GM casts the block # on the LH rear of it.
I'd poke around with a mirror.
Maybe this crate motor is one of the high output ones?
I'm speculating because of the valve covers, intake and carb, and the oversize lightning hoses...someone spent some money maybe lol
