Standard Modern Series 2000

I know this is an old post, I had the same lathe same problem, their intermediate shaft is pretty Wimpy, I found mine to have about .015 runout and most likely came from a broken tooth on the bull gear, a little heat and a tapaty tap tap and problem solved
Can you please expand on what you did?
Tapaty tap tap?

as I was heating shaft I hit it with heavy brass mallet, this was a couple years ago. I regret selling it, I've been looking for another one since, SM's are hard to find here in New England

Hi and Welcome!
My parents lived in Foxboro, I was born in Belleville General Hospital.
My wife and I lived near Frankford for a spell around 1994.
I still have family in Foxboro, Stirling, and Belleville.

Brian

EDIT: oops I see now that this is an old post, just recently revived....

I was born in Belleville general also. Grew up in Stirling.

I should add if you lived anywhere near the abandon railway bed in frankford back in 1994 sorry for the noise lol. I was always on there on my 1993 RM125. Most times we would be up in the Marmora mines though.

Marmora mines.
Yeah what an amazing place that was.

I remember driving the 1980 Plymouth Horizon in there thru the abandon railway route.
We just fit between the boulders.

Very bipolar.

You could run up the side of the pile and think you were at the top only to discover another pile, again and again and again.....

Then the hole. It was difficult to get perspective until you picked up a rock and tried to make it splash in the water in the bottom, only to have the stone go maybe 3-4 tiers down and hit the same side of the hole you were standing on. That's a big hole!

@JeffD , sorry for the way off topic!

Brian
