Then, as mentioned earlier, there are warranty jobs, and then there are warranty jobs... Recent examples I can recall off the top were Toyota and their issue with Tundra engine failures, Toyota also, in replacing a run of frames in Tacomas, that were made of the wrong alloy, and dissolved apparently not much differently than if they were made of sugar... I found out that there is actually a whole industry in providing weld-in patch panels for Toyota and Jeep Frames...
The good folks at VW, some years back, decided that making the insulation on their wiring from a Vegetable Oil based plastic was wise... As if the rodents of the world would not do what they did... Or GM's answer to complaints from the folks in Cold Climates, that their new Duramax Diesels would not warm up when idling, so they sagely decided to tweak the computer to partially engage the Allison Transmission, frying the clutches therein... The Cold Lake GM Dealer shop looked like an Allison Transmission Graveyard, they were lined up around the walls...
