A good source for the linear shafts is used struts or shocks from a car/suv or whatever. I have been collecting them for years. The come in various diameters but i have some 16mm for this project.

Oh looks good. You decided to make separate button controls for control of the impact, is that because the impact didn't have a butterfly style control?
