possible cause and fix for damage to the bearing surface of variator drive cone?

Pay as you go auto insurance:confused: How does that work?
I use CAA.

They give me a base price for coverage based on the make and model for comprehensive coverage. Then I buy blocks of 1000 km of coverage after that.

The first couple years I paid well under $500 for the base coverage and 100 per 1000 km block. My yearly total was about 800 bucks a year. This year I've driven a little more for equipment buying purposes. But I could not find cheaper price for second vehicle coverage. Basically this is my bug out car in case Pickering Nuclear melts down when my wife is out with the primary vehicle.

insert string of obscenities here... because I love a deal even if just to buy and use for a while and then pass on to someone new, BUT I hate winter so so so damn much, and I have pay as you go insurance on my jetta because I usually drive less than 4,000 kms a year... and I only have all season radials. It's as if that ad was designed to torment me...
Torment you? ...... What about us all the way over here that are trying our best to spend your money..:p
Pure torture, I tell ya...

You're closer to Taiwan. Just sayin. One ship and your product is nearly home.

If I lived in BC I'd have ordered a new lathe directly from the manufacturer. I previously contacted several trying to see if I wanted to bring in container load of stuff

Aye, but what I covet are all those Canadian made Standard Modern lathes and Excello milling machines that seem so common out your way.
Damn grass is always greener elsewhere....:p
Shipping costs are just a killer or we could redistribute our machinery wealth.

.... Lol, I drag home enough with pick-ups and a dumptruck, I start dragging home stuff by the train load, the wife would leave me for sure....

I got a buddy at the local railway, I'll get a quote. j/k. I think.

Buy the correct sized balls yourself
6*35= $210.00
Talk a member who welds really well and have them hardface the the cones
Steak, fries and few beers $80.00
Turn them on a lathe Free
Assemble Free

Less than $300 repaired

on a day I have nothing better to do I'll try calling a logistic company or two

One more update on this

"3 drive balls would cost $1,182.39 Cad plus tax"

This is much more within the realm of possibility. However, I devised a fixture that wont cost an arm & leg that will allow me to regrind and lap the existing set of balls for a lot less than 1200 CAD. So one day maybe I'll do that, but for now it is full steam ahead with the conversion...

I just need to get my hands on 16" length of 1.375 or 1.5 cold rolled steel to send to @Susquatch asap. My supplier is taking a while with their estimate. Their speed at providing estimates is inversely proportional to my need for speed
