  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Can anyone suggest a source for smaller quantities of 'plastic' stock? For example, I don't need 10' of 2" diameter, maybe a foot or two when purchasing.

Located in Toronto or east (I'm north of Peterborough).

TIA

Amazon has tons. I ordered some delrin from this place once and that went ok too:

I've bought from millennium alloys in the past, shipping was reasonable iirc, not sure how the prices compare these days, but worth a look

Spae-naur in Kitchener will ship you smaller quantities.
Take a look in their catalogue on line.

Piedmont Plastics (Kitchener) and Peckovers (GTA) will cut to order and also ships to customers.

Piedmont also has a closer site to you in Eastern GTA.

938 Tapscott Road
Scarborough, ON M1X 1C3
P. 416-281-4300

BTW - I think Peckovers may have sold their plastics division.
(We were buying Nylon Plate from them back in 1998)

TIA,
I was able to pickup Piece of 1” thk, UHMW at a client yesterday.
It is a waxy, self lubricating polymer from MITSUBISHI Advanced Materials.
(See photo)
I have a few pieces and could cut you some.
Send me you required ‘rough’ dimensions and I can check to see if I have enough.
